Anyone Use Digital Access Pass As A Membership Plugin?
Anybody have any experience with DigitalAccessPass? It's relatively new membership site plugin. Plus it claims to work even on regular websites, not just WP.
As least that's how I've understood the sales page:
Code:
http://www.digitalaccesspass.com
It looks like a good setup with lots of useful features, but just wanted to see if anyone here has tried it and have some thoughts about it.
He wants $167 for one license & $497 for unlimited licenses (sites).
Thanks!

Re: Anyone Use Digital Access Pass As A Membership Plugin?
I use Digital Access Pass on 3 different sites -
- 1 sells 'lifetime member access" to digitally streamed products (non-recurring) - The second is a microcontinuity drip feed site - all material remains invisible until it gets dripped - The third is a ful-on membership site - free and paid members, protected but visible content - some drip-content. DAP also integrates with Wordpress user tables so you can integrate a forum.
It also has a product-specific auto-responder for each member level/product, ability to give away free memberships, built in affiliate program, option for pay per view (or click) products - its a really capable platform for everything from product launches to monthly subscription sites, one-off membership sites, etc.
Our sales on one site went up 1000% percent after installing the script.
NOTE: I'd strongly consider spending the $167 or so and buying the script - the owner puts out a significant update every month or so....and he provides very good, and much needed at times, support.

I shouldn't be surprised - That response was as predictable as it was narrow minded. My sites are for basketball coaches - http://hoopclinics.com and http://coachesacademy.net. I don't know the first damn thing about how to make membership scripts. The fact that I'm surfing around on this site should tell you that I've used my share of nulled scripts...I was just relieved to actually get some support since I paid for DAP, instead of wasting hours of my time trying to figure it out without any help, like normal.
Plus, the site owner is a good dude. So I said something nice about him...I'm sorry that kind of thing comes as such a shocker to you.

DAP is the best I agree. I use it on 2 sites and am getting ready for a third. Ravi the software owner is a great guy and gives first class support. Highly recommended.

Re: Anyone Use Digital Access Pass As A Membership Plugin?
Thats the beauty of using wordpress as a membership platform...use any theme you want...odds are, you're site wont be a clone of every other membership site out there, as is the case with most non-wordpress membership software.
Any theme will work...of course, there are nuances to making any theme work exactly the way you want to...but with wordpress, almost any problem you run into can be fixed with a plugin or simple theme tweak.
I'm putting a membership site together using the product launch theme over at Cheap Internet Marketing Tools...the theme is great for evergreen product launches and with some tweaks it can handle the members area as well as the marketing.

Good gravy. If you don't have a lot of content, any membership site is going to be hard work - that's what the punters are paying for.

Re: Anyone Use Digital Access Pass As A Membership Plugin?
This script slowed my Wordpress site to a crawl and required some crap called PDO. Plus, he's charging a hidden $20 bucks each month. Betcha didn't know that. Lol...
Ripoff. Just get EasyMemberPro and launch the damn thing.

Re: Anyone Use Digital Access Pass As A Membership Plugin?
Hi,
I'm actually looking for a good membership plugin. I've already tested WishList, and find it not really user friendly.
DAP seems good. aMember too. I didn't know about EasyMemberPro...
Which one would you advise me to get?

Re: Anyone Use Digital Access Pass As A Membership Plugin?
Netpup, thank you so much for your support of DAP. This is the first time I'm reading this thread here, and for a second, I was shocked to see someone accusing you of being me, just because you spoke on behalf of DAP. I'm so glad you jumped in with actual URL's to your site :-). Really appreciate that.
Ok, so I'm that "dude" netpup and kenpodude are referring to :-)
Actually, there's a full team behind DAP - not just me - including my wife, who's also the co-founder & co-developer.
I just signed up today for an account here - I've occasionally seen traffic coming in from BHW, but never knew it was open to all!
So looking forward to participating and offering a lot of value based on what I know, to bhw users.
Someone below accused us of charging $20 without you knowing. That's just bogus. There are no hidden charges in DAP. In fact, we would've gotten sued all the way to hell if we ever tried to do that (heard of the FTC, my accusing friend?).
When you go to the site, what you see is what you get. No hidden charges. In fact, one of our "main" competitors charges a $20 per month "membership" to get "premium plugins" that do the same as what DAP does right out of the box, for free.
So yeah, you could purchase a "cheaper" program for $97, and then slowly the costs start piling up: $97 for a "drip" plugin, $20/month ($240 per year) for "add-ons" that you won't get from them unless you join their monthly program, $XXX for an autoresponder system, $yyy for a shopping cart, $zzz for an Upsell service, .... and on and on it goes.
But DAP comes with all of these included, right out of the box. Most people won't need anything beyond what DAP offers. Of course, if you can afford it, then go for best-in-class services like Aweber. But you don't have to, and that's the neat thing.
So feel free to ask if you have any questions.
Thanks,
- Ravi Jayagopal
Founder & Co-Developer, DAP

Re: Anyone Use Digital Access Pass As A Membership Plugin?
Hi Ravi,
Great seeing you on this thread to answer the questions. My question is pretty straighforward. I've been using membergate for the past 4 years. Can you give me a comparison of what membergate offers that you guys don't and vice versa? I would also love to hear about what kind of reporting you offer?
specifically can you give me reports as to the lifetime of each subscriber and subscription plan? I would also love to get a referral for someone who knows their way around DAP (one of your repeat customers perhaps) as I have a couple of upcoming projects which I would love to use DAP for but I need some hand-holding to get going and would rather work with a developer to get up to speed.
cheers.
Stukie.

Re: Anyone Use Digital Access Pass As A Membership Plugin?
Stukie,
Comparing a hosted service like membergate to a self-hosted wordpress plugin like DigitalAccessPass (DAP) is like comparing apples and oranges.
But off the top of my head, here are a few things that DAP has going for it against membergate.
Membergate costs I think like a few thousand dollars to setup and run.
DAP costs $167.
MG: Has its own proprietary UI and CMS. Not good.
DAP: Built on top of WordPress. You get the full power, community, themes, and plugins of WordPress.
MG: Hosted with hefty monthly fees. 'Nuf said.
DAP: One-time fee. No monthly fees. Your content stays on your server. You own and control your content. No one can "kick you out for not paying the monthly fee".
MG: Limited to only the features they add.
DAP: Whatever you can do with WP, you can do on your membership site.
DAP has great reporting features. You can easily see membership snapshot, revenue details, affiliate earnings, commissions payable, users per product, total # of users, easily move users around using product chaining, 1-click upsells, etc.
Hope this helps.
If you ask about specific features, instead of a general "comparison", I can give you more specific answers.
Hope this helps.

Re: Anyone Use Digital Access Pass As A Membership Plugin?
Ravi,
Top notch reply. 2 important issues on my end:
1. can DAP give me the lifetime and average subscription lifetime stats per user? or per member plan? (either by time or by charges)
2. I would like to have my users be able to upload content to my site and then for me to be able to put this content in a paid download section (sharing revenue with the person who uploaded this content) Do you guys do this?
If not please PM me so we can discuss further.
I am also interested in getting some set-up work done from you guys (initial DAP site set up and uploading content) Let me know if either you guys do this or can recommend one of your power users.
thanks,
Stukie.
