You'll never get it in the store in a week. From what I hear it takes many weeks to get approved.

Re: iPhone apps
I started making iphone apps in November 08. Brings me in about $300 a day. Its a great way to go if:
1) You have tons of patience since apple always gives you a hard time
2) Know how to code Coca and have have an iphone and a mac
3) Willing to advertise and commit to each app you make.
4) Play by the rules! Apple has zero tolerance for anything fishy. And all apps are publicly rated by their consumers so quality product is also important.
All in all it takes about 1 month of developer set up to get rolling in the start. After that its anywhere between 1 - 2 week wait for your app to launch.
Hope this helps,

Re: iPhone apps
Oh yeah for sure, if you have a hit then pack your bags and go to Disney land.
The trick is to try to stay one step ahead of the competition. You would be surprised how many developers are all on the same wave length... if you can think one step ahead you're golden.
Also, apple takes a 30% cut. So really you only make 70 cents off the dollar.
