this is a thread i wanted to open in the fiverr forum... unfortunately i'm not sure they
are going to approve it... and i really hope that people get to see it and take action.

a lot of people here are using fiverr and make a lot of money with it (i make 100$ a day...)

and now they introduced a new rating system which REALLY hurts the sellers...

just a few reason why:

- the buyers are given too much power while we sellers are at their whim...
- This adds fear as another motivation. Anything lower than 4 stars will hurt our ratings (by Mario)
- lots of buyers are over demanding and expecting to receive a 100$ service for 5$ now you'll
see that reflected in your rating
- the system is VERY flawed "Seller response time" shouldn't even be an issue
when we clearly state when the order will be delivered
- such a rating system is AWFUL for a 5$ marketplace
- Buyers come and order the services and they may or may not come back to fiverr. So they can give the stars just like that and leave. But sellers are the ones who will suffer as they want to stay on fiverr for very long time. (by Janvi))

you can actually go to their blog and see lots of people complaining... AND THEY ARE BASICALLY IGNORING THEM WAITING FOR IT ALL TO FADE AWAY...

so now we have 2 choices... we either stop complaining and suffer the horrible system - which it seems like that's what fiverr is waiting to happen...

OR WE CAN ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING AND SHOW THEM HOW MUCH WE WANT IT CHANGED.

so what can we do?

- a respected member should open a Facebook page dedicated to the cause... a place where we all can gather, share out stories / thoughts, makes suggestion and show fiverr our discontent.

- we change our images to one specific image with our message to spread the word - just like the equal rights campaign

- we all contact the fiverr support and tell them to change the system back!

- we flood this article: http://blog.fiverr.com/fiverr-is-rolling-out-an-advanced-rating-system/
with our thoughts so we get to 1000 comments!!!!

- we flood fiverr's Facebook, twitter and blog with our thoughts regarding their new system, asking them to change it back to the old thumbs up system that we all loved!

- each seller contacts one other seller to spread the message, we don't want this to die out but to spread out!

- we change our profile text stating our opinion!

- we choose a day in which we all take a vacation to show them that we mean business, WE WANT THEOLD SYSTEM BACK!

IF WE DON'T DO ANYTHING THEN WE GET STUCK WITH THIS SYSTEM, DO WE REALLY WANT THAT?

please share your thoughts below....

I've had so many people steal content from me on Fiverr that it's ridiculous. I also make about $100 a day writing on Fiverr, but the 14-day clear time mixed with the buyers power is pretty ridiculous. I've written 3 things for people in the past week that ended up being "free".

They would receive the article, claim that it was insufficient and then ask for their money back without an edit (or threaten to leave a negative review, I have 30+ reviews on Fivver and all of them are 5-stars for a reason). I'm not one to argue over $5, so I always just cancel them, but it still doesn't sit well with me.

I've even had to go through Fiverr support (took about a weeks time) to get neg feedback from a client removed, he literally messaged me saying "Thanks for the free words, haha" and left me a negative review.

Fiverr in a nut-shell, ladies and gentleman.

Sorry for you guys sellers, but i like the new rating system. You just need to improve the quality of your services and adjust yourself to the new terms.

well.
sometimes you lose a few fivers... that happens... i had that happen to me as well...

but that's not the issue here... now you need to be afraid of EACH buyer... because they can leave
you a 3 star review even if you gave them everything you specified in your gig...

they think its fair criticism... while it ruins my business...

i just had a person leave a 4 star with an amazing review! WTF?

i gave him the order within 1 day (the delivery time is 4 days), gave out a HUGE bonus (a 10$ gig extra)
and provided modifications... does that seem fair?

newcomers are doomed as well... it only takes 1 review now to ruin their business... would you order
a gig from someone who has 3 stars in "communicatin with seller" and "buy again or recommended"?

Although that's probably the case with some people, I don't think Israeli or Venezuelan clients should be telling me that my grasp on the English language is "mediocre at best".

When they contact me with something like "No good. U write another one, different keywords this time" I get to thinking.

All smoke and mirrors so that they can get their $5 back, it really is a pity sometimes.

ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!?! what do you expect to get from a 5$ service? do you want me to fetch you the moon?

Lol, i always buy the extra gigs which get around $50-$80 per gig, I never buy a single $5 gig.Just improve your services buddy

I am a buyer, not a seller :) I enjoy the new rating system. But it is indeed much harder for sellers to get good reviews.

That is what happens when you decide to stay in the comfort zone.

Fiverr has already provided you with A LOT; if it was not there, you would not be earning what you are. If they decide to change their rating system, they will surely have their own reasons.

Now, you are getting pissed off because this somehow affects you negatively, which I find rather silly.

It is your mistake for relying on a third party for your income; you should know better and diversify your sources of income. Keeping your eggs in the same basket will take you to situations such as this.

You have thousands of ways to make money, so start expanding your horizons if you are seeing this as a threat to your earnings.

Whatever you do, best of luck

/e: reviews are reviews guys... if you sell a product or a service you will get reviews and they will be seen by others. If you don't like receiving bad reviews, do something about it.

my service is great, thank you very much....

i never get any complaints... worst case is a 4 star rating when 5 stars should be in place... but you can always get this one guy who bought a 5$ gig and expects 100$ in value... it only takes a few assholes to ruin a gig now (not referring to you)

i sometimes get 50 orders a day... so i can't answer within 2 hours to a buyer's question... also my gig states 10 days delivery because i have so many orders... does that mean i should get 3 stars in "seller response time"? qwhen i deliver his gig with 2 days left?

I hate it to, some guy left me a bad rating. I promote on my 40k page and the guy mentioned that he had a couple of hundreds clicks but not sale, didn't have any sales for his crappy product. Its not under my control is someone will buy the product or not.

Moving onto the review system, the previous review system was absolute crap, and provided buyers with no actual way of knowing how good it was and so on. I believe this will balance out the way it works and it will put everyone where they belong.

You have thousands of ways to make money, so start expanding your horizons if you are seeing this as a threat to your earnings.

again... we are talking about a 5$ platform... not a 100$ service... it doesn't just affect ME... it affects everyone including fiverr... you won't see a lot of new gigs anymore... because they will get rated to the ground... people pay 5$ and expect to receive a 100$ service... i only get 4$ though... keep that in mind...

now each time i deliver i gig i need to be worried... each person has his own criteria... what you believe to be 5 stars a different person would consider 3 stars... "seller response time" - shouldn't be a cretiria, read my comment above... "buy again or recommened" - ridicouls
"service as expected" - again, people want the moon... and now you just gave them a reason to become the worst critics....
because it doesn't affect them in the slightest... they just move on while the buyers are left with a bitter taste in the mouth...

of course some sellers like the new system... it gives them a lot of power... a few bad reviews can destroy a service now,

"You have thousands of ways to make money, so start expanding your horizons if you are seeing this as a threat to your earnings."

who said fiverr is my only source of income, and why is that even relevant? the system is bad for sellers... that was the point, i specified just a FEW reasons.. i'm not the only one complaining... check out their forum / blog...

fiverr changed a lot of things in the past and almost no one complained... but this stars rating for a 5$ platform? simply absurd...

I don't get it, Fiverr is my main platforms of providing services, Over 230+ positive reviews, hardly get any less than 4 star reviews.

That is YOUR problem if you can't keep your buyer happy, stop complaining and start working on your quality.

OP i can relate the same points you raised to Paypal & Credit card companies as well since allowing 180 days to do a chargeback is just insane.

But that's how companies make policies and we only have to follow them or ditch them.

wow... i gotta say i expected much different comments...

"That is YOUR problem if you can't keep your buyer happy"

nope, read fiverr's blog / forum... not only MY problem... if a complaint has some valid points you should at least listen before
dismissing it... it seems like you just skipped that part...

a few other complaints (some are written by top rated sellers):

"Over 230+ positive reviews"

i have over 500 positive reviews... and only two 4 star reviews whats your point?

try to understand the other sides points BEFORE repeating what other members say... refute them
so i can understand your point as well...

i'm all ears... i didn't come here to argue, but to discuss...

Going to have to agree with OP on this whole debacle, I provide a quality service and still find myself refunding people because I don't want to receive a "false-negative" review.

It's definitely a tactic for those cheaper/scamming clients out there, and it's happened to me on more than one occasion (inb4 "improve your service", because the quality is fine!).

You're not alone Faibol! If a buyers ratings were shown on their profile I wouldn't even be willing to work with these five dollar con-artists.

I just wish most of them knew how to speak English properly.

I wrote a blog post about this very issue:
http://www.makefiverrmoney.com/fiverr-has-a-new-rating-system-and-what-it-means-for-sellers/

I actually do think this is a serious issue especially since a lot of other Top Rated Sellers are concerned about it too.

You guys have to understand... it's a freakin service for $5, from which a seller makes a measly $4.

Buyers on Fiverr have already driven down the price of many services by wanting more and more. The only way to compete now is to undercut other gigs and to offer more for $5.

The problem with this rating system is that it allows nit-picky buyers (which is majority) to be even more nitpicky which will in turn, make things even more competitive. This will likely hurt the life of Fiverr, driving sellers off of the site within a year or so.

Put it this way, for those of you who think a star rating system makes gigs more transparent, you are wrong.
A written review will always be a much more useful determinant of whether or not a gig is any good than some arbitrary star rating out of 5 system.

If anything, there should be a minimum word count on all reviews, say 30 or 50 words to encourage more written reviews. Bring back the thumbs up/down system and set a time limit to when buyers can leave a review. I've had buyers leave reviews for gigs that dont even exist anymore.

I doubt if fiverr cares that much about the talent, from their point of view there is an endless line of workers available.
The customers are supplying the money, so who cares if they take advantage of you as long as they are happy and return.

Fiverr is just trying to make in another ebay.
Its always the seller who suffers the most while they are the one and most important reason these websites generate revenue.
If people stop posting gigs on fiverr they can just sit back and relax and wait for a buyer to order a gig.
They pay 5 seller receives 4,why not seller pay 6 and we receive 5.May be one day they will realise the importance of seller.
If you don't have a product who is going to purchase but this is never going to happen but to see something like this one of the big websites needs to fall fall asap to make them realize what they're loosing.
