Hey guys,

Just got a nice EMD which is [service]hire.org (the service is a party entertainer). Ranking this should be a piece of cake.

I was initially just going to make a info site and slap adsense on it as it has a very nice CPC. and could earn a decent amount from that.

But ive been trying to think outside box about better ways of monetizing.

As its a hire service, and people are directly searching to purchase i searched for affiliate offers but found none...

So I was thinking along the lines of setting up my own kind of either automated booking agency site / comparison site - basically acting as a middle man and taking a commission. Like confused.com essentially.

However im stuck when it comes to how i could actually set this up as a model. the technical side of making the site is not a problem. But i really don't want to be involved in any of the logistics of the service hire. (i.e not responsible for them not turning up if they are hired/ doing a bad job etc). I just want to take a payment, take a cut, and pay the service provider.

Does anyone have any experience in this kind of site? Or what this monetization model is called so i can do some more research? Totally in the dark here.

Or if anyone has any other bright ideas on other monetization methods id be appreciative.

Thanks

One thought would be to create a sort of social networking review site for this service. Sort of like a Yelp site. This way, each business could participate by paying for advertising space and can also pay if they want to moderate on their own profile reviews. Hyper-local is a big trend for business and for Google as a whole. This will give you organic search traffic as well as local business profiles. The reviews would be written by customers of the services and you could create an e-mail opt-in for those reviewers where you could send offers.

Just a though...

Then again, Adsense wouldn't be so bad...and less work!

Thanks for the reply,

just searched a couple of competitors and they seem to be doing a similar thing to what you mentioned. It didnt strike me before (for some stupid reason!)

Im now thinking about making a site kinda like a adult dating site model.

people providing the service (or men on adult dating sites!) can sign up for for free, can input all the relevant information and their availability. But can only receive X amount of inquires / have other account limitations. Then offer them upgrades, featured listings etc etc for a price.

My competitors site is dated and looks terrible. and his SEO sucks. i look forward to taking his revenue. whatever model i decide to do lol

its a long shot - but does anyone know of any CMS / Buddypress that could cater to a site like this with a bit of tweaking? Would save me alot of time coding the whole thing myself!
