71 Year Old Man Caught In Some Stupid Dream

Sup guys?

I've been doing some local web design/SEO for businesses in the area here and I was approached by an interesting client the other day and I have no idea how to handle it.

He's a 71 year old man who got sold on some stupid clickbank product that as far as I can see simply populates your wordpress blog with clickbank product links.. he'd set up his site and was complaining about how no sales are coming in. I think what he bought was "GoClickCash"

Obviously the idea is total bull and a waste of his time, but I want to help him out, maybe give him some alternative methods, or something of the like. I don't want to tell him that he's not going to make any money because I figure it would crush him, he was so enthusiastic about it.

So if you guys can shoot some ideas that I can send his way, or some thoughts/ideas I'd appreciate it, I just want this guy to succeed.

Most of us can barely succeed so I am not sure how we would be able to coach a 71 year old man who we don't know to succeed in IM. I would simply advise him not to do any investments anymore until he starts making some money. Tell him just to work with the FREE options available out there. Blogger/Wordpress hosted subdomains.

Teach him about social media and tell him if he just sits there on Twitter posting interesting things, he can build a bunch of followers who he can eventually push his products to.
 
I'm going to guess that you are the guy who bought some stupid Clickbank product. And now that you've realized it's useless, you're here looking to be spoonfed some methods.

hahah. better than the usual way of asking. now it's some "71 year old man".
 
The thing with some old people is they are probably bored, and have a ton of "retirement" money laying around :)
 
Tell "your friend" that in a situation like that traffic is the key. He can sell a ton of CB products if he can get the top spots for the right search terms, if not he's never gonna make a sale.

I knew when I was posting this that someone was going to make an idiotic post like this. No, that's not my intention at all. There are plenty of threads on here and I am very capable of reading.

I'm genuinely looking for suggestions that perhaps a 71 year old man with little knowledge of computers can attempt, something that's more feasible than his ridiculous idea that he has right now.
 
If he has time perhaps you can show him how to market his site by forum posting, social marketing, etc.

Well out of the six people that have responded to this thread, three of us are thinking the same thing, so are the three of us all idiots?

You've been here for a while, you've got to realize that people asking to be spoon-fed methods post daily, and sometimes they get creative in the ways they ask to be spoon-fed.

Anyway, if you really want to help him out, then traffic is going to be key. If he's insisting on using the site he has already, help him set up some PPC campaigns. Or teach him how to rewrite the posts to make them unique, then show him how to build some backlinks.

I understand your concern and skepticism it just makes me mad that I'm sitting here trying to do a favor for someone yet people are deciding I'm trying to be spoonfed,

I appreciate the input that you have given, and thanks to everyone for their advice.
 
I'm not going to flame the OP because I've been told off already about it today and have been asked to bypass such posts if i'm not happy with them.

But of late i think there is a weird case of schizophrenia in this forum, when stupid spoon-feeding posts are devised there are always a shitload of newbie posts afterwards defended the OP.

Me thinks people are that fuckin' bored or frustrated on BHW, that they open other accounts just to start having meaningless conversations with themselves in threads.

People really should find other productive means of passing the time, probably like me who has wasted valuable time creating this post. :D
 
You will probably have to do the research yourself here on bhw. That clickbank product is not going to work, but if you do some research on different methods you might be able to teach him something. Or perhaps the two of you can do some research together.
 
I would tell him his idea is stupid and then sell him an already-made MFA site, then teach him how to promote it.

Or something.

I agree that it sounds like he made some shit up to get spoon fed. if im wrong, sorry .but my gut says otherwise.
