Customer Says My Website looks like a Scam

Hi guys, I just created a website for my seo services. I posted some ads on craigslist and was search through the local gigs section and saw someone needed some seo work. I sent them a professional email along with my web address and I the person responded to my email saying no thanks that my website looks like a scam...

I really didnt know what to say to them. I just told them its not a scam and told them the city I lived in, which is a local city and told them I would be willing to meet with them if it made them feel better. any advice on how I can deal with this.

It looks fine. Its a bit vague but maybe you say more on your inner pages.

As for the guy I would never waste time trying to win that sort of client over. What was his point in even replying back to you. If you thought someone was a scam you would not email back.... unless you want them to prove they are not, to put your self in a better position to ask for work done up front/discounts etc.

Even if thats not the case and I am just been jaded I'd still say they would turn out to be a pain in the arse and cause you more work than gain

You should tell him it is a SCAM and he is right. But I do online marketing and since you realized this is a SCAM and your way smarter then the average bear would it be alright if I asked you a few questions to see if I might be able to recommend a service that will work for you. You don't have to buy from me I just want to help is that fair?

Yeah you will get all kinds, lol. Your site is fine, people that have shit for brains tend to mistrust everyone and call things scams based on nothing other than their xenophobic misinformed one dimensional world view.

I have started moving my business model away from offline clients, just not in the mood to jump through hoops anymore, lol.

Best of luck, don't let that one comment get you down, some people can never be pleased, move on to the next real lead.

I'm pretty sure it's mainly because of your logo, it looks a bit unprofessional, it uses two unrelated font families and there's simply too much space in there. As an example, check your promo video, it appears to be made from a professionally designed video template. See how your logo kind of doesn't fit in there visually?.

Even if you just changed the font to the one used throughout that promo video and just let the contrasting colors do their job your site will look heaps better. Also change the arrow graphics to solid ones and that will tighten up the whole thing.

On the other hand, none of that makes your website look like a scam.

I would agree with the logo thing. It does create the feeling of something quickly done. The overall site is nice. Maybe the client ran into a affiliate marketer/scammer who used a similar web layout? That could lead him/her into believing it's the same person.

lol the guy just replied with this email.

"Sorry buddy, I was responding to a different email and you got by mistake. Please provide example URLs of the website you have SEOed keywords with Google positions so I can tell your competency level."

so I was freaking out for no reason. but now I have to come up with references and I dont have any hahaha. Im just outsourcing the work.

Tell him you cannot do that in order to protect your client's privacy/niches/etc. Tell him he can expect the same level of discretion and confidentiality should he choose to try your services.

Yes, indeed. Some prospective clients do that to test your work ethics beforehand. Even if they aren't testing you they can see the value of it once you give your explanation (if they're not just fishing for info).
