So there are kids on my campus that are buying textbooks back from students. They are offering more money than sites online that buy back textbooks and are even buying really old textbooks for at least 1 buck

anyone know what they are doing to make a profit with these?

They scan and add Adsense. Long term income coming in

wow that seems like a lot of work...most of those text books are super long and wouldnt the copyright violation create serious problems both legally and from the adsense point of view

I assume the scanning was a joke :)

They might have a special deal with someone online to buy books. Are they checking prices before buying? Do they have a price sheet? That would be a dead giveaway that they're working for someone.

Actually, they are probably reselling them via Amazon or some such.

I knew someone that did this sometime back. She would hit up all the resale shops and thrift stores and bag any college text books. You may pay a dollar at Goodwill and the book is worth $70-$100 on Amazon. She did really well for awhile.

Don't forget that people that need something in a hurry are willing to spend more money.

Why wait for an Amazon / ebay seller to mail you a book if you can have it in 1 hour ???
