Kijiji or Ebay type site

I am creating a sporting goods site but I can't decide on making a kijiji style classifieds site for my area or an ebay style site. With an ebay style site, would I be able to get by without charging listing fees etc?

Which has more potential for growth? Which could potentially make more money?
