$350 in a month - a newb story - CL posting
1st and foremost I thought I would share my story here as this place is the best resource around to find information. This is not much $$, but it works, it is easy and its FREE. Its also a great way for someone just starting out to get a little extra cash in their pocket to help fund bigger and better things. I'm sure this has been said before so sorry if its old news for some.
As stated in the title, this took about a month with about 30-60 minutes of work a day. My best day was around $50 and my worst was about $2 but I'm new to everything here and still have so much to learn. I'm also sure a lot of people can take this to many different levels, but this again is just my 1st month in the biz.
1st step is to sign up with an affiliate program. I'm not sure if I can mention some here, but mine started with a COP and ended in EAC. I'm sure you can figure that one out. There are many affiliate programs out there. if you are signed up already then cool. The sign up process took me about a week and a half. An agent will call to verify but just search the boards here as there are great tips on what to say.
2nd step after you get accepted is to search the campaigns for "LEAD" campaigns. Specifically ones that require people to just enter their email address. The one I used most often paid like $1 per email address. It may take some trial and error to find a good one, but you can test out a campaign in a few cities to see its potential. Once you find a good one, stick with it. I've been using the same on for almost the whole time.
3rd step is download some auto craigslist poster. Search the boards, there are many good ones to be found here. Copy and paste your code from your affiliate in the auto poster. Come up with a nice title and select the cities you want to post int. I just selected capitals and a few popular ones in California.
4th step is to make a gmail and CL account. Then ad that to your software.
5th step is to start posting your ad. I used the for sale section because I didn't have to get voice verification.
A typical day I would see about 2000 impressions, about 200 clicks and 10-20 leads.
Also 100% of the ads would eventually get flagged. I've gone though about 7 accounts and have not changed my IP yet. I think I post in about 60 cities everyday. Some days are better then others.
thats it... best part about this is that is only cost me my time and for someone who just needs a little cash, this is a great method I think.
thanks again BHW and I hope this at least helps someone.

That's nice. You didn't have to change your ip?? That's pretty cool. I don't have much going on right now so I might give it a try. Nice to see noobs helping other noobs like me.

Welcome to the board and thanks for sharing your story. Though CL posting isnt new it is good to hear that newcomers are doing good at it and it may encourage more new comers to try your methods to get the same results. So if nothing more this is a great inspirational thread.'
Again Welcome.

jforce, how do you keep track of stats like impressions or clicks?
is it through the affiliate site?

Cool for you! I made about the same the first month I started posting on CL.
I'd look into changing your IP seriously. They will start ghosting all your ads. So basically you'll post all those posting and then they won't be flagged but none will post on CL. It's very important to rotate everything or your just wasting your time.

This is a great example of someone that was willing to put down the time to make something work. Even though he didnt make a boatload his first month, Im sure with time, hell be able to automate and tweak more profit out of this. Perhaps even outsource it all together. Good Job!

Re: $350 in a month - a newb story - CL posting
These kinds of mass posts get flagged and removed pretty easily, that is, if you can even get past ghosting. My advice would be to post using images of what you want to say and include random hidden (yellow/white) text to have a greater chance of success. It takes a long time however, even automated before the cash starts rolling in, so if it starts to work for your niche, consider outsourcing the task and do something else to further expand your income streams

Re: $350 in a month - a newb story - CL posting
I do the same thing, but ... in some random order:
1) I try to use ZIP submits when possible, better conversions.
2) I post all ads myself, they stick longer. I wrote a program to add random words to the end of my post, took the time creating ads down by about 80%.
3) I switch emails twice a day, about 20 or so ads per email. I never change IP, and I have been doing this over a month. I also change the domain of the URL every 15 days or so, this helps from getting ghosted and blocked.
4) Test different categories and offers. Free stuff gets flagged fast, but other sections stay up for a very long time.
5) I put up about 4-5 ads for the same product in one spirt, than wait at least 1/2 hour before putting up more for the product.
6) Check time zones. Don't post in New York when it is 11:00PM Eastern time, post in California where it is 8:00.
7) Copy is the key. I was getting decent conversions, then actually worked on my copy, boom, doubled my conversions. Some offers need a decent copy, some don't. I have 2 offers that are doing great now that are just urls, and I have a few more that are about 1 paragraph.
I am working on a program to "automate " manual ad creation more, with all the cities listed by popularity, web browser, blah blah. It will be in the BST section hopefully by the end of the month.

Re: $350 in a month - a newb story - CL posting
Thanks a lot jforce, I've read countless times the CG methods but actually I never tried them. I have 1 question.
Have you been paid?
I wonder if your account manager hasn't contact you, maybe you could have problems when they check the referrer. BTW, nice situation, you've taken some action and generated some money
