£1m in 4 years - realistic? you tell me!
Hi,
We'll as much as i'd love to say i've made it and its thanks to this forum, i can't yet (lots more reading required), but i am a pretty f**king good trader and had this thought:
I've been making 100% regularly a month for the last 5-6 months on my account, and i came to realise that if i turned it down, only got 20% each month (i.e. i didn't make risky trades and i kept all my profits) then in 4 years a mere £200 would turn into over £1m.
I know its not exactly quick, but its alot quicker than most people make a million (i.e. never).
Does anyone think this is a stupid idea? or should i go ahead and do it? i mean, its not alot of money, but its just every day for 4 years is quite an investment!
Cheers,
Jamie

an average of a quarter of a mil per year, sounds like a no brainer to me

Re: £1m in 4 years - realistic? you tell me!
well, in the first year i'd only make £1,700, second would be £15,000, third would be £141,000 n last year over £1m
just it seems so easy on paper, but if it was that easy more people would be millionaires i guess! must be a flaw somewhere!

If you do the maths it is very possible indeed. Its just people either give up half way or get lazy.

Well, what can I say, if the math says you can, then you can. And yes, if it didn't require consistency and people actually did everything they say, there would be a lot more of rich people.
Go for it, and in fact, if you can get some extra money to start with...

Re: £1m in 4 years - realistic? you tell me!
i could probably cut out the first 2 years of building my account, but i'd rather start small and get 2 years of practice on the same system. literally just getting to know it inside and out.
I've just got everything pretty much sorted - some money to clear and stuff 2morro then i start playing around with it properly.
my target for this month comming is £40. Doesn't seem too hard at all. easily done (i hope).
Guess if it works i can write an ebook on it and sell it and make even more =P

Yeah it possible, but why don't you just get 100% every month if you can do that? then it would be much faster

Re: £1m in 4 years - realistic? you tell me!
max, i would but i hate managing other peoples money - i know what its like to have someone say "yeah you'll have xxx ammount of dollars blah blah blah" people don't think anything can go wrong then are gutted when they realise they have nothing near what they expected. There new house they had there hopes up for isn't happening, or the car etc.
& cokely, because trading 100% every month is *very* risky, like if you make one mistake you can loose almost everything in seconds.
initial investment is £200 (<$400), but thats because this is for a rainy day and thats what i found around the house. You could make a mil in 2 years if you had 15k, but since i've never traded anything over 10,000 i wouldn't like to start that big.
I'll see how i feel after 3 months, if its all good, i'll probably whack alot more into it and see what i can do. 20%/month is more than a bank loan, so i'm tempted to do that and see what magic i can work!
I'll keep everyone updated though!

Re: £1m in 4 years - realistic? you tell me!
what are you trading? Maybe you should crank out a quick ebook with some basics and sell it to help fund your own trading.

Re: £1m in 4 years - realistic? you tell me!
Jammie,
On paper... anything is possible. In reality things change.
Before you start your venture, I am curious about a couple of things.
1. What markets are you "trading" stocks, options, forex... what?
2. You say you been making 100% regularly a month for the last 5-6 months on your account, Is this actual trades or simulated trades.
3. Are you using a "system" or do you shoot from the hip?
4. If you are using a system is it yours or someone else's?
Your answers to these questions will dictate whether or not you can hit your goal.
Seriously

Re: £1m in 4 years - realistic? you tell me!
i trade forex, straight up.
I have a system and was going to write it in a book and give it away on here & sell on CB but figured i should keep it to myself.
the 100% months have been simulated trading, but only low quantities and would not effect the market price at all (thus meaning it's accurate). Its not a program, although it could be programmed, but i enjoy trading so i don't mind. The system i use changes often though depending on the time of day, the way the market is moving and my targets.
The system can easily be applied to futures/options aswell as CFD's aned commodities. Anything leveraged and fairly liquid. Might have a bad time in penny stock if you trade large volume but apart from that it's as good as gold.
I had a post called "650% in 89 days" which was using this system, but its been tweaked since then.
And the system is 100% mine. It's not really a system per say, but just a logical extension of what everyone knows.
Hope that helps.

I'd say don't put all your eggs in one basket - just in case someone decides to change the landscape during the 4 year period.
