1-page wonders work well in adult, not sure how they would do with mainstream though.

That is correct. BTW, the more pages you have the greater is the chance your ads get clicked on. Simple math

I think Adsense would officially say that it's more about quality than quantity but that they don't want their advertisers paying for crap traffic that doesn't convert.
Also, does a one page site deliver or does it simply look like a MFA site?
I usually go for a 4 page min and also bulk it up with standard about us, contact us and privacy pages. I also don't go for the spammy look with ads everywhere and just stick to the one. My plan is to go back and add additional pages as and when time permits so that the site gets bigger and also, fresh content is added for those spiders!
I have between 30 and 50 micro sites with the same adsense account and have been ok with that so far.
It depends on your strategy, but unless you have a high paying keyword, then you'd probably need several hundred of these sites to make a decent income.

me myself im not going to make 1 page sites unless its some keyword that has no related keywords which is impossible..im doing 10-20 pages of real content..and like you said im going to add more content overtime...im not one of those people who going to make 200 niche sites making 1$ a day..more like 20 making 10-15 bucks a day..its the quanity that counts you minds well just work harder on a few then work easy on 200..
check this site out
this is how all of my niche sites look but using wordpress..simple but effective

I have 31 4 - 5 page sites with a privacy page monetized using adsense and that works like a charm.

Re: How Many Pages For Micro Niche Sites
One day, google might declare any site that has sparse content a spam site and boom its gone. Then what you going to do?
I would suggest making a real site around 1 niche keyword and then adding in a bunch more related posts or better yet more additional niche keyword topics if you can. 20-30 posts is a good number then I think you could get away without updating it at all after that.
The benefit of making a real site is that if your search engine traffic doesn't come like you expected, you can quickly make a fanpage and twitter account to support it and those users will be looking for more than a couple posts.

No, I use .coms, .nets and .orgs... for the revenue I generate, I don't care about the extra couple of dollars.
I get good traffic, last month was 78,000 views and it's all organic. When I have a site that relates to another site (Site about boats and another one about boat engines for instance) I have links pointing to the similar site. You would not believe ow many people go to one site, click on an ad... come back, click to the other site and click on another ad.

My sites are monetized using adsense, cj and clickbank... my revenue is over 10K a month.

Re: How Many Pages For Micro Niche Sites
Some of my best performing micro niche sites have 30-40 articles spread over 8-10 pages. I find this best for natural traffic as I'm able to cover a basket of keywords (main keyword + LSI variations)
