Question Is there money in eBooks?

    Hey BHW,

This site is just full of so much great information. I've learnt a lot from here but now I have a question.
I would like to start writing an ebook that I can sell, but before I write it I have a few questions:

    1. Can you still make money with eBooks?
    2. Where is the best place to sell an eBook, and why?
    3. What are average conversion rates? (I know it depends on your niche but lets imagine that I have a niche that isn't too saturated)
    4. Would it be smart to outsource the work?

I look forward to BHW's informative responses (as always )

What were you going to write an ebook about? An area in which you are very knowledgeable from years of experience, or just re-write someone else's ebook (which is a shitty rewrite of another ebook, etc.) where you claim you make $400 per day with one hour of work and sell it to noobs on Warri0r F0rum who will be like "OMG THIS IS GRATE!!!1!one!"?

If you're serious about it, you should write an actual book. Physical books aren't as likely to show up on torrent sites (unless someone scans each page one by one, lol).

With eBooks, unless you protect them somehow, as soon as one person buys it, everyone on the internet has a copy.

    are u familiar with e-junkie?

answering to op's question, definitely yes, i sold my very first ebook just for testing purposes a few weeks ago and after 12 hours i had $200 from it

Yes ebook are making me some nice cash. My conversions dropped down to 9%, but so has my quality traffic so I guess its still ok. I have been selling my ebook for a nice time and haven't found one copy floating around the web yet. I guess your niche has to do with it. I sell through a company that is specific to my country but I have heard good things from e-junkie. Also have worked successfully with paydotcom.

    That sounds interesting.

You could sue the pants off the person who makes your book public, huh.

Well, I'm probably going to write my own but I plan to rehash a few "money making" eBooks, just to get some quick money. And are people on the warrior forum that noob? haha

I've never heard of e-junkie. Is it a place for me to sell eBooks? And if not where else could I sell eBooks? And do you have any tips on properly promoting eBooks?

I've heard of people selling on ClinkBank, eBay, forums and their own blogs. What's your opinion on where to sell?

    Is paydotcom similar to ClickBank?

Amazon.com has an on-demand publishing service, CreateSpace.com. If you have a book written, this is a good starting point. You get an ISBN and you don't need an agent to find you a publisher. It's basically a do-it-yourself publishing service.

Anyway, I'm writing my first book right now for publishing at CreateSpace.com. I just want to see my name at Amazon.com with a proper book (i.e., with an ISBN).

Seriously, who do people think that this will discourage even the most ardent pirate. Seriously, it is easy enough to get a random VCC, a random email and then share the book.

Worst case, you can just take screenshots and rePDF.

I assure you, pirates are your least concern.

honestly i have an e-junkie account for a long time but i"ve never used it, so i don't know exactly, i can imagine that right after somebody buy your ebook, e-junkie make visible watermarks on every pages of your ebook with your buyers name, email address and transaction id and after that the buyer can download the ebook
if i'll sell ebooks in the future i'll definitely use e-junkie, it's more pro than just give your pp email to the buyer and it seems you have a better chance that pp won't limit your account if your money went through a third party system and you don't get it directly from the buyer moreover there's another advantage, you'll have less disputes, claims from your buyers because they couldn't say they didn't get what they bought, because right after they pay, they get the download link, in case if you do it without a third party and if your buyer say he/she didn't get the ebook, it's very hard to proove that he/she got it, so you'll loose the dispute

e-junkie is not a place to sell your ebooks, but it helps you to do that, i wrote about them here a few days ago:

no doubt they can do whatever they want with your ebook after purchased it, convert it to word, edit it and convert back to pdf or what you wrote, pirates are unstoppable for sure but i think it is a good way to reduce the chance to end up your ebook on a torrent site and a regular user making money from your work

E-books are both insanely profitable and powerful.

For example, you can sell an e-book for any price you want. This includes for a low price of $2.99 to build a database of people interested in your niche.

Doing this will allow you to create a list you can market $2.99 mini e-books to and therefore make a nice profit if you think it out enough.

As far as outsourcing goes, only do it if you have a compitent writer for your preferred language. Nobody wnats to read something akin to a dog's used newspaper.
If you can't see it with your own eyes, question it.
If you can't grasp it with your own hands, don't believe it.
If you can't see it in your mind's eyes, it'll never become a reality.

the last thing you should think about is the pirate, it will end up in rapidshare servers
you protect it or not, only client/servers application (like white smoke) is hard to crack
make better marketing strategy and you will be ok because most real buyer didn't download warez.
    just my personal view.

Yeah I'm targeting real buyers. I'm sure most, if not all members her on BHW download warez
And I'm expecting it to end of up torrent sites anyways, I think that's something you can't avoid.

If you go that route, prepare to get zero respect in the IM community.

99% of ebooks are shit. Rehashing shit is still shit. You'll get a lot of returns except from the dumbest of dumb people who think they actually got something useful from your book.

Yes paydotcom is basically a clickbank but with smaller fees. At least they used to be smaller.

I think you should have a website attached to it so you are making money at all angles. Plus if/whenever you decide to move on from the project. You can have something to package together and sell to the community et al.

Back in the days of selling eBooks on eBay, I made around £70-£80 a week, mind you I was only 16. Then eBay stopped digital delivery so I gave it up.
