Very very true. I've never bought an ebook even as a noob nor did I ever pay to join a site that claims to make you 60k a month. Lol. It's just common sense. Why are they selling a cheap ebook or cheap site memberships if they are making that much money a month? I've read a few ebooks that I pirated and all they did was talk a good game about how much you can earn, how you can have this and that but the catch was IT NEVER GETS TO THE POINT OF HOW.

Here are some key tips.

Do some research - keyword research, the works!
Don't try to get involved with a highly competitive market.
Find a profitable niche that is less competitive. Weightloss is really profitable but is also highly competitive. Instead of trying to do general weightloss, use long tail keywords like and start a site like "weightloss for overweight women" - you catch my drift.

Write quality unique content. Don't steal content and shit, it will get you nowhere. Google likes unique quality content.
Optimize your site and promote daily. Update daily. Build back links. If you don't know what SEO is, you can learn all kinds of tips and techniques free all over the net. www.therantandrave.net and www.theblacknova.com have a lot of good articles.

Unique quality content and back links are the key though.

If anyone needs some pointers just hit me up.

I can either say this forum is 10 times better than useless ebooks or equally worthless as I havent made anything. But the methods here could work if one is not lazy.

Yeah I mean, digitalpoint has made me some money and actually helped me learn SEO a while back but theres a lot of garbage and foreigners on there. I use digitalpoint now for building backlinks, thats about it.

I think I found a pretty good niche though and thought I'd share the stats and research I did.

Baby thermometers, and all kinds of diff things which have shit for competition. You could get on top of the rankings with in a couple of weeks if you do your seo and all that jazz daily.

Hits are the monthly hits on that keyword phrase / search term. Competition is the competition/sites in google for that phrase. The competition is ridiculously low. Advertisers are paying out a lot for a lot of these terms also.

Considering 99% of all the advice as fake and yours is in that 1% limit, I would definitely say your pretty long post is worth a look and think.

I will try my chance even if what I got from your opininons have that tiny percentage of beeing true

Thanks again.

It seems in the learning of IM it's all about separating the wheat from the chaff. I tend to read posts in these forums and given ebooks and find the similar pattern of do's and evaluate them. You will find there are certain givens that work such as blogs are good, wordpress is the way to go, unique articles are good, social backlinks are good, keyword rich title and domain name, etc. These givens have been talked about in many of the BS posts and ebooks regardless of their BSedness.

Thanks for professing to know all about me. But you're right, I do close pages 99% of the time because 99% of them are bullshit.

They are useless.

Now, don't get me wrong, here. I agree that a lot of people's problem is that they "don't take action."

But for 99% of the methods/threads/ebooks/etc. out there, even taking perfectly efficient action still wouldn't make any money, because the methods are oversaturated (if they were ever effective) or just plain old bullshit (meaning they never worked in the first place).

Quote:
Change your attitude and you will find that EVERY ebook (what you call shitty ebook) started working for you.
lol. Sorry man, bullshit with a good attitude is still bullshit.

Of course, most people are too dumb to know that, which is why bullshit ebooks are like 98% new age feel-good motivational bullshit and 2% incomplete content. People love to be told to adjust their attitudes, and they love to imagine the future where they're making tons of money.

But none of that changes the fact that bullshit is bullshit.

It reminds me of daytrading "gurus" who sell shitty systems that don't make money. When confronted, they come up with all sorts of excuses as to why their system didn't work. "oh, it's your attitude." "oh, you're doing blah blah blah wrong." No, the bottom line is, the system doesn't work. And then it's hilarious to watch them get ultra-defensive when people code their system and test it (so there's perfect execution and no human emotion involved) and it still doesn't make money. They just make more excuses.

Bullshit is always bullshit.

Bullshit with a good attitude is still bullshit.

Bullshit with feel-good motivational material attached is still bullshit.

Bullshit with [anything] is still bullshit.

It is the goal of the internet marketer (or person in any area of business) to identify the bullshit as such and avoid it if they want to make money.

That is exactly the kind of "feel-good bullshit" I'm talking about.

I can't figure out if you're still just trolling me, or if you're just really missing the point by that much.

Great stuff. Out of curiousity how many of you had mentors when starting? People who gave you a sense of direction and you just ran with it.

I bought into alot of courses over the year and I agree alot of it was BS. The best place I joined was Wealthy Affiliate. It really got me off the ground, but one thing that pisses me off is when I ask the owners Kyle and Carson a question. The basically rephrase my question into an answer.

It's a shame it's this way, but as you say it. It's competetion!

This is definately a real eye opener for many people.

Get leads that pay $5, post a lie on Craigslist to trick people into filling out the leads. LOL MAKE $500 PER DAY!!

Guess what asshole, that doesn't make $500 per day. Do you know why? Because you're not going to get 100 people per day to fall for that. Hypothetically speaking, it may be possible in the same sense that it may be possible to get a job selling cars and sell 10 cars a day and make thousands in commission every day, but the chances of it happening are none.

And then people are surprised when there are 100 replies saying "duh I don't get it, why am I not making any money?"

You wanna know why?

Here's why:

1) Because the original poster didn't make any money doing it (as evidenced by the fact that he is sharing it, see above where profitable methods are NOT shared)
2) Because if the method is public, it is saturated and no longer working. Oh and CL knows about it already.
3) Because it was a shitty method in the first place.

But I'm just wasting my time typing all of these. People are still going to flock to the "ZOMG MAKE $500 PER DAY EASILY" threads.

This thread should be sticky. In fact it should be required reading before you're even able to post.

I kinda disagree. I tried Craigslist "job method" 2-3 months ago and people still fall for it - average 60 leads per day. Unemployment rate go up since then.

If it's working for you, that's great. But you wouldn't give away specifics of your method to others for free if it was still working for you

So again, the point is "System works, People Fail"

Anyways, best of luck for 2010.

Well put! But BHW is the place to be. From experience the reason most IM failed is a lack of action and planning. Trying different methods should not be so difficult, but trying to digest evrything at the same time will render you powerless. There are lots of good information on this site. Do not focus on everything try to master one subject at a time while implementing what you are learning.

I have wasted the whole summer on downloading every single information I could find on this site, but not spending enough time to even read or watch any of the training videos.

Now it's time for action. Let's make some money!!!!

so 99% of the crap out there is crap.

that's just the way the market is and always will be.

but its still worth it to filter through the 99% that's crap in order to find the 1% that's gold.

because that's the only way you're going to find it

as you're exposed to more of this stuff your ability to separate the gold from the crap will get better, but as a noob you gotta just try everything, fail a lot, and learn from your mistakes.

I am not new to earning money online but I am a newbie to internet marketing/affiliate marketing. I must say there are tons of methods out there and oh it is so overwhelming trying to weigh things over which is working and which don't.

I learned a lot of stuff here in BHW for 1 day compared to a year staying in DP. I made money in DP but I better stick to BHW if I want to learn something.

I know people are so darn lazy especially the newbies to learn it their own way and get the magical formula that will make them go up and earn millions. Well, even in life experience is the best teacher. There is no shortcuts. If you want to earn money long-term you need to learn and do it the hard way. But getting some inputs from other people can be of big help too.

I come to realize people in the IM world are all my competitors and never ever they would divulge their secrets to newbie and even the veterans. With this in mind for sure every question I ask 99% of the answers will be oh so vague and generalized...

Well, OP. In the IM world things are really different. It's a cut-throat competition...

The problem with the internet as oppose to offline is your sole reliability rest on what you can do on the computer by yourself. You need to know how to filter information, organize, problem solve, and, put to action. The ability to mix and match comes from your prior offline and worldly skill set. What you experienced in life cannot be taught. Ebooks are crap but if your persistent even crap can turn into gold. Boys and girls the word of the day is "persistence". Call yourself "the golden boy" or "golden girl".

There is noone to talk to but type to for help. Different kind of lifestyle in cyberspace.

Making money is possible, with some perseverance, but making big big money like in some of the claims made by ebooks seems very difficult and scaling things to the size you need just becomes almost impossible to organize.

All I've been doing for the past 3 months since joining this forum is read and read some more without taking any action because I'm still confused with all these diferent methods. Basically I'm still learning, but now I come across this thread and I get even more confused, though I do see your point that people don't give away their secrets.
I had imagined that a lot of it was bullshit, but never imagined that the number would go as high as 99%.

Still, considering that this forum has many thousands of threads, that means that there is some hope in finding a few dozen threads that make up that elusive 1% of good stuff.

For a newbie like myself and many others, it may be dificult to know how to find the good information. Besides this thread, are there other good ones that people can recomend, that can lead the blind or the half-blind in the right direction?

Many thanks
Gil

What I find most funny is that most nubies like myself have no idea how to seo a website. So ever if you got the greatest idea in the world you have to outsource it to some linkwheel or other black hat seo guru. Well now the guru has got your idea. And he has the tools to market it. And he knows what the hell hes doing. Your meathod is dead, your going to get crappy seo results. The guru is taking all your money and your dead in the water.

Unless you know how to use the tools and are extremely smart about IM (which very few are) your going to be a dreamer flipping burgers at burger king.

My 1 cent.

I got burnt big time in 2008 in day trading (options). It thought me one thing; filter the information well or others will separate you from your money. Learn what you wish to do first, before investing time/money in it.

SEO is not hard. In fact, it's so easy it's braindead. Just most of the time it takes time and hard, boring work. People just make it seem harder than what it is. You can easily learn the basics of SEO in a week or so (maybe even less) and build from there.

Oh, and your idea - whatever it is - isn't unique. It's been done before. This I can promise you. The trick is doing it better than the guys that are already doing it.

Good call. SEO is simple but like he said it's long boring tedious work. You won't see results right away but It does pay off in the end.

Look up backlinks, anchor text, onpage optimization, seo tutorials and seo techniques. That will get you started.

Thanks mollah for your very powerful post.
Yes, you are right most of the e-books,IM COURSES are BS and saturated but noobs must read this BS to make an overview about what IM is, and then create their very own system that generate them the money they want and of course no one will share his successful system with others.

What i mean by that all newbies must read and read until they collect the info. that will help them to create their system to make money online

Great post OP

Thing about content is when you are reading those guides try to read between the lines try to see what authors is trying to hide what he doesn't want to say. It doesn't matter how rehashed info is you can always learn something new if you look at it from different angle.

Cool Re: Message to ALL beginners trying to "make money online"

I agree with most information above. But just as in anything else in life, if you don't stand out, you won't prosper. Its funny how my viewpoint changed in the past year of trying this method and that method to generate income. I know that being realistic, creative, and organized are all absolute priorities. Not being lazy, i.e. smoking pot and reading a forum every day for 5 hours a day looking for the "perfect method" is already a great step.

Realistic means understanding that quality means value means sale.
Creative means doing something different than everyone else.
Organized means track progress, set timelines, and focusing on specific goals

I have made at least 10 websites, all different styles, all techniques learned from this site. None worked - why? who cares because i didnt want to continue trying (I learned the method, didn't make a huge effort, or realized the method is lame) and trust me, most "methods" on this site are pretty f*ing lame.

I don't agree with the whole "try diffent things until you get $ and then scale"

I think we should all just be a little more realistic about what our assets and weaknesses are.

Take a look at yourself: Are you well educated? Can you write and speak english well? Are you an energetic person? Do you have extensive knowledge on unique topics? Do you care about your reputation? Are you willing to take risks? Are you efficient with pumping out wordpress/joomla sites at the speed of light?

What sort of audience am I trying to sell to?
(ebay, DP, teenybopper robots? - or - Brick and Mortar legitimate professionals and businesses)

I know that I have a strong background in speaking professionaly and selling things i believe in. I suck at doing obviously low-brow stuff because I like my reputation. I love to speak in front of people, I love to profess in things, I love to sell people on my personal knowledge and enthusiasm on topics I care about.

I know there are fat nerdy cave people spamming the sh*t out of a variety of demographics - many of which with obviously poor grammar/social skills.
I personally just plain don't feel good about myself when I have tried "methods" which require lying, or posing as a horney naked broad.

If you are some punk kid with spare time, by all means, go as dirty, dark, and dangerous as you like (NO RAMIFICATIONS TO YOUR ACTIONS) but if you are looking to legitimately build a sort of income using the internet as your tool, for christs sakes be an adult and start thinking like a businessman.

It works! It all works! BUT YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE YOU CAN MAKE IT WORK

and then like nike says "just do it"

-Bats

There are 2 important facts:
1. Nobody, especially on that forum pages would stay reading stuff, spending his/her time in front of that monitor if he/she makes thousands of money every day. Every body gets a tiny share from the whole system.
2. There is no such thing like "automated system", NOWHERE.
You should always maintain your system and change if necessary.

Conclusion: most of the ebooks say that they have an automated systems.. which creates the result that most of the ebooks are bullshit.

And some SEO stuff you just have to learn on your own. One thing that I think I'm finally realizing is that there is a very large benefit to having a larger website than a smaller one, especially if you're trying to get ranked for a relatively competitive keyword. Websites with 5 pages are not going to get you as far as a website with 50 pages provided there is quality on each page.

Also, you have to remember your website exists to PROVIDE someone with SOMETHING. The first thing I do when I am thinking about tackling a keyword is ask myself "What does the person who just typed in this keyword want to know?" Answer that to yourself, put the answer down on your site, SEO it up, build some backlinks, find a way to monetize and boom.

You will never be able to make legitimate money unless you are doing something that is beneficial to others. Give the people what they want and you will be rewarded for your efforts. No one likes a bait and switch. If you want to make money online you have to treat it like a business and no business succeeds when you're trying to dupe your customers.

BHW contains plenty of methods that truly can make you money. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you could make $500+ per day just by gathering the autopilot methods, put a spin on them, and move on. The best two qualities you're going to want is preserverance and common sense. Use your preserverance to keep trying all methods you come across or invent by yourself - make sure you've done them to the best of your ability and assess their profitability. Use common sense to avoid wasted time on shitty/saturated methods.

P.S.: I'm still wondering how shoemoney made $132K in adsense. In the last 5 years I still haven't figured it out unless he has 100000 sites out there making $1 a month.

Thanks man, your post really got me thinking straight again. I've always thought it was my fault and that I wasn't following the eBook well enough. Now I know I just need to work hard and try my best with certain methods.

Instead of thinking of a bunch of ideas, I'm going to focus on one and see how it works. I'll expand that idea if everything goes well.

Again, thank you very much for posting this thread.

I'm pretty sure I've heard that that picture is a fake before (posted on different forums). Not sure, though, so don't quote me on that one.
