How many backlinks should I build per day day to a blog I've had for nearly two months and a separate blog I've had for 1 week?

Analyze your competitors backlinks and divide their total backlinks by 6 or 12, depending how quickly you want to rank your site. If you go too fast, you may lose velocity. Anyway, slowly building links to your money site is much safer when coupled with a wide range of anchor text. Good luck.

Definitely less and more diverse is best. High PR if possible...

Link diversity is the key for success, if you build just a couple of links with same kind and same methods, it won't help you in long term

Doesnt matter if you are building quality backlinks, If you run a xrumer or senuke backlink builder , you can get 1000's of backlinks in a day, but that will def get you banned.

On the other hand if you build 20-30 hand build backlinks based on Pure and Original Content , you are all good to get Google's Praises.

1. build relevant and high PR one-way links to your blog
2. make sure to get manual links, not automated softs within a short period of time
3. try web2.0 blog posts with images, video embedded to the post
4. add 2nd tier linking steps for your links by handling social bookmarking, backlink wiki, .edu & .gov.
Hope those tips help (which did for me )
