I am a Musician who somewhere along the road found interest in IM. About a month ago I came up with an idea for a music website that updates daily with the newest music and music videos that most people don't hear for a week or so.

If you have ever seen Worldstarhiphop.Com Or Livemixtapes.com they are extremely publicized sites in the Hiphop community,but what most people don't know is that these websites are EXTREMELY profitable.

Livemixtapes.com charges $2,000 to put your mixtape/album on their site
Worldstarhiphop.com charges $600 for standard Video Placement on their site
they also offer extended prices for extra features.

The reason they cost so much is because they offer traffic/promotion through their extensive audience and UV's who frequently visit the site for updated content.

The problem with these sites is many of them haven't spent time actually doing SEO they have just gained popularity from natural traffic,viral media,and backlinks.
So with Great guidance our site should EASILY be able to bring competition to these sites

Questions:
Why do you think this site will become Viral so fast?
I KNOW it will I have build up a 200k TARGETTED audience through twitter and all the videos presented on the site will hosted on youtube (edit: Newly Released songs and music videos go Viral INSTANTLY when Uploaded first)
and will clearly display the website link ALSO everytime someone clicks on a link to download something from the site they will be forced to like our fb page its only fair
With millions of people trying to download new content our audience will increase EXTREMELY fast and our facebook and twitter pages will out number all of our competition giving us Instant Traffic.

How Will This Site Make money?
When advertisers and Indie artist see the extreme amount traffic and publicity this site has built up they will dying to spend their money to get either their song,video,or Mixtape/EP/LP on the site.
With the extreme amount of traffic I will also be able to build up a relationship with labels looking to promote their music and any other marketting companies looking for an audience.
I also have a plan to make users sign up for the site by forcing them to complete a CPA if they want to download Unless they are a member.

What do you need Us For?
First I am looking for investors to pay for the creation of the website ,extended promotion,and SEO
Second I am looking for developers with experience in PHP
third(Not Required) I am looking for people who have experience in the Music Industry such as executives,lawyers
Edit: only need about a $1k investment spread among 6 people at MOST


How Will I Get Paid?
You already know how the site receives income how much you get paid and when you get paid all depends on your contributions.
Ofcourse each individual investor will get together with me and we can work out a specific contract for a payment plan.

Why Should I Trust You?
Honestly this site is going to be HUGE and their will be plenty of money to go around,but besides that fact a contract will be drawn together for each individual investor.

Sorry to say but I think you're going up against some stiff competition with relatively little experience. Sounds like you'll be running into some issues with copyright infringement if you plan on profiting off these top hit viral music videos.

Also how do you expect to be "first to post" new hits? Established labels usually aren't interested in small time promotion, as they bank with Vevo.

I will not be running into any copyright problems as long as I only put downloads for the free music and not the ones that aren't suppose to be for free download.

They only bank off music videos not Lyrics videos and videos just playing the song search it for yourself.

and about the competition I'm sure some people have faith this has extreme potential as I've proven above,and there's Absolutely no harm In trying

I have experience with these types of sites. I've worked on a couple for some musician friends and helped them reach authority status in their genre. They can be profitable but it takes a LOT of sweat and work.

Also an initial investment of 1k while having to do ALL the development and promotion are enough to turn me off to this JV.

I sorry, but anyone with an idea they really believe in would find $1000 on their own!

It all sounds like a pipe dream that you want other people to work on for you.

I have 200k spread across around 20 accounts and they are all different active followers who are interested in genre.
If you truly have experience I would have really enjoyed having your help,and its hard but not as hard as you make it seem

200k people interested in music from their favorite artist goes a loooong way on twitter

Yeah but, how much money will get the investor? In how much time, long term, ROI..

Me and the investor will discuss that individually the more they invest they more returned.
the longer they wait after the sites initial release the more returned.

This sounds like a GREAT idea Y. If I have the cash flow to help, I would but on the side lines looking out. I think, you have to be COMPLETELY realistic with your investors. Potential ones, that is.

To the investors, this is lucrative & will generate a lot of money within 6-9 months if diligence is actively pursued. One thing I have learned since joining this forum is that most people almost instantaneous gratification. Or they want their initial money back fast. In this case, unless you are all mind readers of the music industry, this will not be happening.

The OP has a fantastic concept. It works and has potential if chewed the correct way.

ANY time a proposed JV is posted here, it's an unspoken fact that people will always try to poke holes in your idea. It's not because anyone wants you to fail, it's to make public the risks involved for those that may not see them right away.
