Question About Adding Keywords to PPC Campaign

I'm studying on effective keyword research for PPC campaigns. Some of the videos I have been watching, the im'ers have put together a large list of keywords. My question is, do you put all of those keywords into your PPC campaign and then bid on all the keywords to find out the profitable keywords?
