Is there anything wrong with competing with your competitors name? Meaning: If I have furniture I am selling that say Pottery Barn carries, but at a fraction of the price. Is there a trademark infringement or otherwise, prohibiting me bidding on the keyword "pottery barn"?

So the theory is: say pottery barn gets 350,000 exact searches, with very little competition, so very low ppc rates, I would rank at the top before "pottery barn". My description would not mention pottery barn name at all, just the type of furniture I have at a reduced price?

Anyone see anything wrong with this? Am I missing something

I do not think you can do this. Look at some google searches for large companies like walmart, mcdonalds, no freelance advertisements at all.

If this was allowed I'm sure there would be hundreds of mcdonalds, walmart, etc. Campaigns promoting offers.

exactly what I was thinking...However??? why couldnt you ride on the coattails? I am sure they have watchdogs for things like this....But with the amount of traffic these type of guys pull in, you would not have to be up long to generate some nice flow? I am just wondering what is the worst case? You can run it for 24 hours then take it down for 72 then put it back up randomly?
