BHW needs a "Stupid" button (opposite of "Thanks")

I've been seeing so many posts recently that are stupid, moronic, timewasters.

I would make a list but it would just irritate me.

Different stupid posts include:
* Me too.
* Cool. I subscribed to this.
* No you can't make a white hat site, G will slap you. (Or something else patently false.)
etc.

I want a "Stupid" button. Or is that what neg rep is for? Except people don't neg rep enough.

It's like the "Thanks" button, but if the post gets three or more "Stupids" it automatically gets hidden. Plus the user gets banned if they're too Stupid.

I like this idea... maybe not the part about 3 stupids = hidden posts, but the concept is good.

Actually I genuinely think that's a decent idea - it would be a much better sign of reputation than our current thanks system, where you can get like 50 thanks by simply sharing an ebook you got off some other forum...

Not sure what kind of impression it would have on new members though, so might not be a good idea to actually implement it.

You can opt for jr.vip and get access to giving negative reps. Thanks button is a way to show appreciation to avoid many of the stupidly short posts.

99% of people in IM are cynical assholes. Putting a "stupid" button would just promote trolling.

To point out the obvious, people would neg rep too much, especially competitors (sales threads/developers, etc)... Take a look at CL.

The idea isn't to be negative. I don't mind changing the name.

But have you seen a JOURNEY thread where the OP's posts and smart questions are drowned in a thread of "Me too" or "Sub'ed" posts? It would be great if these could simply be filtered out.

yeah trolls would ruin this. but in a perfect world it would be nice if you 'disliked' and it removed one of their thanks. so they can't troll for thanks.

but honestly if you're going to do business with someone you should look through their post history.. i always do. and also search on google for their "username" before spending any monies.
