Has my account been compromised/hacked?

Hello,

my original username was Frankie4Fingers. I've been active for a pair of years around here, also been a Jr. Vip.

Today every time I tried to login, I got this message at the first attempt:

"Wrong username or password. You have used up your failed login quota! Please wait 15 minutes before trying again. Don't forget that the password is case sensitive. Forgotten your password? Click here!"

I've also tried to reset the password and cleaning the cookies, but I keep getting that message after I try to login.

Any mods can help me with this?

Seeing I'm not the only one, I guess there's some bot attacks going on...like something that scrapes the user lists and try to login continuosly with wrong passwords to prevent us legit users to login...

Relax, I'm sure the admins/mods are working on it. I'm sure they are aware of the problem as well. It is probably some sort of an error, not bots hacking accounts. Either way, it will be cleared up.

In the case of it being bots, I'd suggest you get your contact info ready: e-mail registered to the account, password you normally use, and IP normally associated with the account.

Just don't keep creating new accounts if the error persists. The last thing BHW needs is a bunch of accounts being created and created and not used. Plus creating new accounts is against the rules. We wouldn't want you to lose your account you normally use.

If you keep getting logged out or not being able to log in, just browse what you can. I know it may be a hassle, but some of BHW is better than no BHW.

I am also having this problem (username = bestmate) and who knows if the mods are aware or not so i created a new account so as to be able to post about the problem and let Admins know it is affecting a number of people! i already tried everything the OP did and more but nothing worked.

Maybe so, I'm just trying to calm some of the other members. They may be trying to fix the problem before a lot more people notice and start to panic. Or once they realize it is a similar problem to almost everyone or a big portion is when they will make it known to all.

Have any of you had problems with the e-mail account that is normally registered to your BHW account? If you are able to log into the e-mail, maybe it is possible to attempt and reset the password?

If you read the OPs post you will see he already tried this and i have tried too. Reset password x 3, waited an hour, cleared cookies, etc etc but nothing worked.

I've changed the password too...

Although I don't know if this is possible, maybe some sort of keylogger malware or virus installed onto the site which tracks the keystrokes of the users. So if you change the password it already tracked what you typed. But I don't know if that is possible, I don't know to much on that subject.

If it is a malware problem, copy some of the pages while you can so you have something to read. I have a feeling BHW will go down for a little while so they can try and sort it out.

In my opinion, they are just preventing the users to login (as wrote above, probably some bots that keep try to log in with wrong passwords after it scraped the usernames from the memberslist) and they aren't stealing anything, since for that it would take a more complex approach and I'm pretty sure BHW has first class security.

Yup same thing here - then I ran CC cleaner and used US proxy to log in (I'm from Europe) and it worked!

Had the same problem all day. Trying to reset my password for 5 times till now. You can all retry your old pass or get a new one and it should work fine.

It has nothing to do with being noob or not. I've joined BHW before you did with my other account.

When I encountered the problem, I tried to contact the mods using the form you can find clicking the "contact us" link, but I received an automated mail that said they weren't checking that mail anymore.

So seeing there was no thread about this problem, the most logical thing to do seemed to register again and let the mods know about this.
