Search Feature sucks.

...at least for me. How bout you guys? it never gives me accurate results. for example, I just did a search for butterfly marketing, and got back "article marketing' so i researched with "butterfly marketing" and got the exact same results. That is just one example. i usually get results with little or no relevance. Like the word 'of' will show up as the top result for a long tail search.

Which reminds me that I dont think they are sorted by relevance at all. Just time i guess. Is there any way to improve this or is this vbullitin in general?

You should find that each and every one of the titles lines, if you open them, contains some reference to your search for 'Butterfly Marketing' including the ones below.

I sort of feel your pain - always annoys me that the search feature presents me with all these options rather than just taking me to exactly the one nugget of gold I am looking for - but I am an impatient bastard at times

Yeah, the default vbulletin search does suck a bit.

I think the hardest part is finding the right name. Some people in here try to hide the program or ebook name like they are writing the next Da Vinci Code book. I know it's something we need to do to prevent search engines from finding them, but I rarely even try to search for anything.

Yep. The search feature here is not perfect or precise, but maybe you'd like to program a more relevant filter for vbulletin mandude? I can still find what I want here within a series of searches.

I was thinking along the same lines that its because the way people put * and 0s in the words that i cant find them. But I just use the search bar at the top left of this site. I got totally different results.


But yes, I was looking for an old post, the one that starts with [GET] and has all his stuff in it. My results didnt show it.

I don't like the way it won't let you search for quotes. That can really annoy me if I'm looking for something specific.

ah cool I never thought of that feature of google. but yea It doesnt seem you can search with quotes for exact.

maybe that you try to implement Sphinx search.
You will have a lot better performance and results.
