I had a "client" who asked for his money back from his credit card company 8 months after we sold him his PRINT advertising (and for no good reason really). Our credit card gateway rep told us many CC companies are going 6-12 months on chargebacks. (The burden of proof was on us with them already deciding we had no chance.

So I would recommend whoever this guy stiffed they
1) file a police report
2) contact their credit card company telling them fraud was perpetrated. Give them a copy of all the documentation including the POLICE REPORT. I believe since it crosses state lines it now turns into wire fraud charges possibly. Tell the CC company this man has defrauded a number of people in the association you belong to.

A few of these posts point out EXACTLY why I insist on payment by WU, verified wire transfer or USPS Money Order for products and services.

The guy charged back for a service received EIGHT MONTHS previously and the CC company gave him the money back!

PayPal is better but if they have paid with a credit card through PayPal you are still in the same boat.

Yep; scammers do this all the time.
