Just saw this on Techcrunch:

Great!:arg::eek:

Ohh holy shit "Social Captchas", now that will be very bad for bots, how do they want to handle that :D haha Good that I'm not into FB spamming.

"social captchas" is about the most idiotic thing I've ever seen. It's unrealistic and will do nothing to stop anyone who is adept at getting information they want. As sites change so do those who seek to profit from that information change as well. This will only lock out everyday users who don't log in often or have no clue what picture their so called "friends" have up. Sheesh, I thought I'd seen it all until now.

Yup, this is going to work out great.

how is this that different to photo roadblock?

It will replace regular captchas (those slightly warped letters you are asked to re-enter to prove you are human) with a picture of one of your friends. You will need to identify the person to authenticate yourself when you are trying to retrieve a lost password or Facebook detects suspicious login activity on your account. You do know what all your ?friends? look like, don?t you?

Now it's just going to be more frequent :(

Most teenagers don't know what all their Friends look like. There will be so many of them that get their accounts fucked up. In their efforts to combat spam, Facebook is pretty much creating an opportunity for a new competitor to enter the market.

Who wants to join us?
