Hi again everybody!

Anyways, I am not longer making the majority of my money from facebook and I am actually moving on. I still do facebook stuff, but I think that by releasing this guide I am not going to infringe on the money that I'm already making. This is more of a newbie guide to FB but there are some good tips for the gurus. Here's the breakdown of this guide:

1. You will learn how to make a successful group
2. You will learn how to make a successful page
3. You will learn how to cross-promote groups/pages
4. You will learn how to monetize groups/pages
5. All you need is a FREE Facebook account (that you already are using) and a CPA account.
   

So here it goes:

CREATING A GROUP
Log on to YOUR PERSONAL FACEBOOK ACCOUNT!

Click the group icon at the bottom > + Create a New Group

There are several important things you want take into consideration when you create a group

• Niche/Topic - What you want to do is pick a topic that everybody will join and promote and at the same time will buy products/fill out cpa offers/visit websites relating to it. Politically motivated pages are very viral. For instance, Legalize Marijuana, Gay Rights, Abortions, etc. or the opposite Ban Marijuana, No Gay Rights, Pro Life etc. People are very passionate and close minded when it comes to politics so they will probably invite all their friends and engage in discussion. Another good topic is games like Mafia Wars and Farm Ville or things that directly relate to CPA offers like Ringtones, IQ, and other stuff like that because they are highly targeted and very profitable. The downside is they are less viral. If you can find a balance, then that's good. The only thing that you must do is give them a reason to invite their friends. (I'll explain better later)
• Group Name - Especially now that there is this stupid new group layout, you need a good name! It and the picture may be the only thing that most group members see. That means that you need to get the point across in the group name. So it's good to include something like
  Need 1,000,000 Members
  or
  Invite All Your Friends
  in it. This will help it become more viral. Also, don't make a group name like this:
  1000000 strong Against the jonas Bros
  make it look nice and professional like this:
  1,000,000 Strong Against The Jonas Brothers
  . Sloppy group names look less official and that is bad especially if you have a political page.
• Description - Explain you group in this part. MAKE SURE YOU TELL THEM WHY THEY SHOULD INVITE ALL THEIR FRIENDS! Make something up like
  If 1 million people join, marijuana will be legalized.
  TIP: Make sure it sounds good and don't make it too long.
• News - Just make up some news, you can put membership goals here. like [QUOTE]1,000 members by November 10th etc.[/QUOTE] or just make the news like an extended description.
  

Click Create Group

Then you want to change the setting to this:

NOTE: some people say that you shouldn't allow non-admins to post on the wall with this new group layout, but I think you should until you have a large number of members and are ready to monetize.

Next it will prompt you with something saying this:

Publish to your Wall and your friends' home pages?

Click Publish

Then it will give you a page where you can invite your friends. So, INVITE THEM ALL! If you have too many or you're just too lazy, then just put this code it the URL box in your browser (or whatever you call it):

Then go view your new group and add a picture (You can find one on google images, by just typing in you group topic)



Then go to your facebook inbox and message all you best friends and out of state/province/country friends. Tell them to please invite all their freinds to join your group because it will make you money. And go on chat and tell some of your other friend to invite their friends too! This should really jump-start your group. Then if you set-up your group right, it will just grow by itself after that.

OPTIONAL: You can by accounts with 5,000 friends on this forum and then invite all of them to join your group. I personally don't think it's worth it, but if your group is dying, this might help. You can also make your own 5k friend account. Use a proxy and request about 30-40 friends a day.

TIP: Try offline marketing your group by going to work/school and telling your friends to join it and explain to them that you will make money off of it and then lie and tell them that if they invite all their friends that you'll give them a cut of the profits.

CREATING A PAGE


Creating a page is easier than creating a group but it is less viral. There are WAY more restrictions too. Think of something that EVERYBODY (or most people) likes. For instance, Laughing, Saturday, Good Movies. Try to be original and don't make pages for consumer products unless you own them. So this is what you have to do:

Log onto your personal account.

Go to any random fan page and scroll to the botton until you find this link:


Then put in the category and the name of your page in the designated areas (The category does not matter at all, just put the best match for your page) TIP: Capitalize the first letter in ever word in your page name and DO NOT try to put SUGGEST TO ALL FRIEND or anything like that in your page name!


If it prompts you to publish the page click yes and make sure you become a fan or your own page

Then it will let you edit the page info. IMHO, it doesn't matter if you put anything here or not.

Next, ADD A PICTURE! Just go to Google Images and pick out a picture that goes with your page. It's super easy. (upload it the same way you upload a group picture)

Once that's done you need to suggest the page to all your friends.


And basically the promotion process is the same a group. Suggest to all friends, tell friends to suggest to all friends, offline marketing, option 5k accounts etc. But now that you have a group and a page, you are ready for cross promotion.

IMPORTANT: If you want to have good page reception and popularity (and insights) have regular status updates. DO NOT PROMOTE PRODUCTS! Just have little fun games and questions in the updates (or quotes). I will get to monetization later)
CROSS PROMOTING

Cross promoting is where you have a network of pages and groups on facebook that are interlinked in order to get maximum members to all. It's pretty easy to do to. It only works if you have at least one successful page or group. So I'm going to explain it to you, assuming you just have a successful group and you haven't made a page yet.

1. Make a page following my instructions above (promotion and all)
2. Post a link in the description and/or news of the group saying
   If you like [this group] the you will definitely like [this page] click here to become a fan!
   or a variation of that.
3. Also post a link to the page in the link section of the group.
4. Let the page grow.
5. Make a new group or page.
6. Promote it through the original group the same way you promoted the page.
7. Check at a time when you have a lot of friends online and make a status update with a like to your new group or page saying
   check out my new group etc.
8. Then let that new group or page grow and link back to the original page and group.
9. Then repeat and repeat using more and more of your pages and groups as you build up your collection.

I hope that wasn't too complicated. lol

MONETIZATION
(or however you spell it)

There are multiple ways to make money on facebook and I can't possibly cover them all (I don't even know them all). If nothing listed he works with you, then maybe you should search around the forum for some other methods.

IMPORTANT TIP: DO NOT MONETIZE UNTIL YOU HAVE AT LEAST 15K MEMBERS/FANS!

Method #1 - Sell Your Group or Page

This is my least favorite method, and it is short term but it is quick cash. Especially if you have a mafia wars group, you can sell it for a lot, even though I still recommend monetizing instead of selling. If you're lazy, however, this is good for you. There are plenty of people here on this forum that will buy groups and pages but here is group for buying and selling groups:

(I haven't actually sold something on this group, but one of my friends suggested it to me so I'm letting you guys know about it)

I have also heard rumors that you can sell a group with 1 million members on sitepoint for over $10kUSD. Idk if that's true or not.

Method #2 - "Sponsors"

This sponsor method is great for political groups. What you need to do is find a good email submit offer (if you have a targeted group pick a cpa offer that is in your niche and it doesn't have to be a email submit) and put it in the description and news as the groups "sponsor". Tell them to fill out the offer from the sponsor to support the group. For Example:

We are growing fast and we just need a few more members before we can legalize marijuana! If you want marijuana to be legalized visit our sponsor [SPONSOR HERE] and they will help support legalizing marijuana.

or something like that.

You can also make an incentive cpa site with either C*P*A*lead or black hat code breaker. At the site you can give like a free download or something to people who fill out CPA offers.

For pages, instead of putting that in the sponsor in the description or new, put it as a status update! Don't do it too much. Mix it in with normal status updates.

Method #3 - Promote Targeted Products

You need to know you are going to do this before you make your group. I'm going to use an example for ringtones.

It's 5 easy steps

1. Make group/page about ringtones the explained above
2. cross promote it
3. find ringtone affiliate programs and CPA offers
4. offer them to the group members as "exclusive offers" through the either new/description or status update.
5. let the money roll in!

So basically, you're building up your traffic and then promoting your targeted ad. It's pretty simple if you think about it.

Group Monetization Tip

This is something you should do while monetizing all your groups now that they made the new layout.

Put your "sponsor" or "exclusive offer" here!

OPTIONAL: Disallow non-admins to post on the wall of your group so that your posted links ("sponsors" and "exclusive offers") are at the top of the page and get maximum exposure.

FAQ

Q: Why should I use my personal account?
A: Because then you will be able to connect with your friends to help you promote the group/page and a lot of people who are mutual friends will join/become a fan so facebook will suggest the page/group to more people.

Q: Do I have to use software to make money on Facebook?
A: No, but you can use software to make you a lot of accounts and get a lot of friends. Just search around the forums.

Q: Should I spam my group/page link?
A: I don't recommend it. But it might help. DO NOT use you personal account for spamming. Outsource it!

Q: Can I make money with Facebook Apps?
A: Yes! But I don't know a lot about that. I do know, however, that there is a lot of money to be made with apps.

Q: How come I can't message all the members of my group?
A: Facebook only lets groups with under 5k members do mass messaging to all members.

Q: Why should I wait until I have a lot of members/fans to start monetizing?
A: Because people will see your group/page just think: Spam! and they won't join.

Q: I like the guide, are you going to make others?
A: Yes, I plan on contirbuting to BHW in many more areas than just the Facebook section.

Well this is basically just a guide of what I personally do. I'm sorry to hear that you feel like it's a waste of time. From how it sounds, you sound pretty experienced with FB. I hope this guide will help some fb newbiew get started. BTW you say that there are better ways, I would love if u would share one because I'm always trying to improve!

i actually found this kinda interesting since im a total noob on facebook ,havnt moved on from MS yet lol

i really appreciate if you could post a better thread or point out a link on bhw which explains this process better since you said there is plenty there which is a total waste of time.

Its a good guide for new people on facebook, but anyone thats knows abit about facebook its sort of stuff you already know and common sense. Good effort though, i'm sure it will help some people out.

Nice guide, I have got a pretty large fan page now. Have been working hard over the past 2 months on FB, stumbled across some huge methods but having a large group/fan page (Especially fan page) really helps my marketing.

Q1 about the message limit for Group.
If group exceeds 5000 members, do you loose messaging to all the members?
Or can you send for instance ... one day to 4000, next day to next 4000 etc..?
