Viral list building does it work?

Had a quite a bit of success with this viral list building stuff and woudl love to here others views on how to put list building to really work well.

Something that I've personally found to be effective with viral list building is report distribution amongst massive forum communities - especially with something tailored to their interest.

i.e: Create the report - integrate it with relevant affiliate links, and purchase Mass Forum PM Blasts - and integrate the tell-a-friend function and provide an incentive.

Helped me build about 20,000 single opt-ins.

Yeah, it may have given you 20,000 subs but what good are they?

1. They aren't double opt-in
2. The tell-a-friend emails are probably mostly fake
3. Mass forum blasts equals FORUM SPAM

Yeah, sounds like a great list.. LOL --- Look, forget the forum blasts and get rid of the tell a friend shit.

What you really need is QUALITY information. Put that in a brandable PDF with ONE offer in the very back of the report and if the information is quality ... you're golden.

I'm doing it that way and have built a 10,000 double opt-in list with just one report. Funny thing is I just released the report yesterday, but the reason it's working for me is because the information is so good most would have expected to pay for it...

can you tell me about the make up of your report. Not the content, just number of pages, chapters etc

I've been using the Viral profit machine script to build one of my lists. It's got me about 4,000 subscribers double opt in to my aweber account. It's worked pretty good because I got others doing the work for me and getting me subs.
