I am an ebay Powerseller, and also ship my own merchandise. I use both envelope manager (Dazzle) and stamps.com for shipping. It never dawned on me (I am old and slow) that I have a huge database of emails for the last few years of customers.

I may have 100-200,000 (maybe more) emails from sales. I am not sure they are all good.

So here is my question and pardon my ignorance.

How do combine from outlook, netscape, stamps.com and Dazzle into one useable database or list, and then once I have them whats the best way to email them out marketing information without my ISP banning me?

I did not know if there was some harvesting program that could pull them all into a useful list, then some program that would be able to send information back to them, to drive traffic to my non ebay site.

I appreciate any guidance anyone can give

The fact that I sell on ebay is kind of a side issue this more about how to harvest and mail large amounts of email

Nice to sitting on a goldmine, there are various tools around that you can use or else outsource a data entry person. A good one should have all the tools ya need. If they used pay.pal then can just dump from there...Tur'bo Tr*ansaction will work will paypal, there are o's plugins for outlook...

If you are soing ya own shipping every couple of days you need to get someone to add the data into something like gold*mine or similar programs. Not doing that you are leaving dollars on table for someone else...

They are buyers so first segment your list up in catagories. ex: this list bought xyz miniture doll, so group them together so you can sell them the large doll etc

Don't use your ISP unless you ring them and they are okay, or you will get trashed. If they are okay, then use in*spire as it allows you to segment you list and send out by ,geographical region, alpha's for first name, last name, email etc...allows you to import large lists from text (don't recomend) or cvs files. Also allow you to adjust the send rate...should be able to find nulled script around here...

What I would do is use company that allow you import large lists and bulk send. Not sure what Get Resp*nce policies are now but just 'google it' and when you find a good one, always ring them so they know what you are doing. You will find them helpful mostly. And at all times, refer to it as a customer list and you'll be right...also would recomend that you outsouce this and get someone to compile your lists so they are ready to import, yes list's' and if you have repeat buyer, stick them in a seperate list as well...

Just make sure you have a marketing plan for back end products....and you'll be a lucky guy/gal

Lists that are a couple years old will have a high bounce rate. People change providers, die, move, etc. I had a customer list of about 80,000 . After two years it's down to about 40k.. Even after all that time it's responsive like a mofo. I mailed the 40k and pulled 20k in sales... I did a happy dance.


Getresponse will let you import records, they will require that you send in an opt-in confirmation message though. Fortunately they allow you to create your own message.
If you have such information as the date they purchased, the item and the amount, you can add that to the list and import it to. That way in the confirmation message sent through getresponse you can remind them of why you're contacting them.

Like:

Dear {FirstName} {LastName},

You purchased {Item} from my Ebay Store on {Date}. We've created a newsletter for our valued customers to provide them with special deals! etc etc. Please click below to confirm your subscription. thank you, ebay guy..

Since you have an established relationship with them, I imagine they'll remember who you are and will be happy to confirm. Now you have a gold mine of people that buy crap online and already like you cause you delivered the goods.

The key now is to not spank them too hard... Mail them maybe once every two weeks. If you mail them too much they will unsub or just ignore your messages.

If you only sold certain items, only promote similar items to them. If you sold many different kinds of things, you might want to segment your list for best results.. So you only mail computer stuff to people that bought computer stuff and mail people that bought useless trinkets only useless trinkets..

If you use any of that junk crapware, you're certainly breaking the US CAN SPAM ACT. I would be surprised if any of those addresses actually respond and buy shit. Harvesting email addresses from SERPS is a sure way to get sued, black listed, and punched in the dick. Not to mention the legion of asshats that have scripts that just generate tons of bs addresses.

You should integerate your ebay paypal account with a autoresponder "aweber" for an example so when the pay it opts them in. This will save you from future hassle in the future. I makes alot of money off email marketing to my lists so yes you are leaving money on the table.

Integration with Paypal is a great idea, then all these people are opt in automatically

You need to verify the emails.
And hell no it's not can spam compliant.

As soon as he posted HOW DO I HARVEST ,,,,,? the possibility of can spam compliance was out the window.

You don't build a email list of 300 million emails by playing fair.

Serious spammers hide themselves beyond the law.

Yeah I do not care about fair or legal. I just need to take precautions along the way.
