Reverse DNS isn't even the whole equation that's like a standard part of a server setup. Keywords and formatting are important. If you legitimately (opt-in) email VIAGRA, CIALIS BEST PRICES, no matter how good your setup is, you're going to end up in some spam boxes. You can also be black listed without even realizing it. You also need to create SPF records. Plus probably a million other things.
DNSStuff has a good tool called the DNSReport that will give you a pass/fail for a lot of your server configurations but it still won't guarantee your email will land in the inbox even if you pass every aspect.

well you will never get 100% of emails delivered to inboxes and the viagra sample shows, that the server is just a part of the equation. the thing is, aweber is not as good as they claim, they may have good contacts, but they land in spamboxes very often recently too, the importance of "luck" seems to play a major role in getting messages in front of clients recently - crazy but true (well I enjoy quite good deliver rates without using a third party and exposing my data to easy theft - so all is good )

Re: Is aWeber the best?
Other then aweber, emaillabs is very good their client list speaks for itself i dont know about pricing but im sure it's not as affordable to most people as aweber. I am currently using phplist though since it's free and has excellent features.

Re: Is aWeber the best?
Here's a lil update on Aweber.
Unfortunately, there has been a price increase (or it has happened for a while but i was sleeping at the wheel) for their service because they've now thrown in a super duper analytics package into their autoresponder accounts.
Anyways, if you signed up with them now, it will cost you like $69 per month if you have up to 10,000 subscribers in your list (or if you can build it up to 10,000 in a short while). As a comparison, previously, I think it was $19.95 for accounts that have up to 10,000 subscribers.
Here are the pricing details for Aweber:
hxxp://w3.awe8ber.c0m/pricing.htm
Compare this with GetResponse's pricing:
hxxp://www.get*response.c0m/comparison.html
Existing aweber account members can stick with the old prices and enjoy the existing features and benefits but will not get the analytics package.
Oh well............

And that's the BIG reason why aweber isn't the best. They can up their charges whenever they want - and you can do zero, zip, zilch about it. I really don't understand why anyone uses them. Why pay for a monthly service when you can run your own? That's just throwing money away.
Second problem - people see an awber link to opt in to and they shy away. Because so many morons use it now to sell crap, customers are starting to think that everything associated with aweber is the same sort of thing.

In your case, contact the server admin @ the sites you're having problems to have your server whitelisted. Spam/Bulk folder problem solved.
By the way, that's not a mail server problem, but a filter one. SMTP is accepting your email, but it's first checked by a filter (Spamassassin, MailScanner, DSPAM) before being passed to the user's inbox (Spam/Bulk folder). That's what a good spam filter is supposed to do. I can't begin to tell you how many email servers that I fixed that didn't have a valid RDNS. It's the first thing I check after the actual config file.
Since you mentioned DNSStuff, the founder and admins there would agree. Hell, do a search of the keywords "reverse dns" and "sender policy" in @ DNSStuff forums and compare the number of posts between the two. With "reverse dns", the query is maxed @ 500. SPF stops @ 17 posts total. Very few email admins are using Domain Keys and/or the like.

Re: Is aWeber the best?
I've never come close to deliver rates that Aweber offers. Largely with free email accounts, that most of my list have. Admittedly, your list needs to be legit - but I wouldn't want to do it anyother way anyway.
Couldn't be that hard to crack the optin system though....

It's the same price and the deliverability is comparable to aWeber plus you can use co-reg as a list building method and add them straight to your account (unlike aWeber).
|
I have my own build opt in list ( no double opt-in ). Is this quoted means that I can import them in GetResponse without need to double opt in them to be able to send mails ?

Re: Is aWeber the best?
Aweber rocks for WH activities. They can get most emails through the spam filters. If you're wanting to install a script on your own server and mail to whomever you want your best choice is AutoResponse Plus. There's cracked versions of this out there; otherwise the price is pretty steep and it only installs on one domain name. I've used SendStudio also but I didn't find them to be as good as ARP. Whichever one you use you will not get past the spam filters for Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL, etc. so your only hope there is to have the recipient whitelist you if they have one of these addresses. When I used to purchase opt-in leads I'd just make sure that none of the addresses I bought were for any of those big boys, and I did pretty well.

Re: Is aWeber the best?
I got iContact a couple months ago and for mixed use, both BH and WH they've been great. Saw it mentioned in the thread but not in much detail.
Here's why I like it...No double optins necessary for new subscribers, you can import your own email lists without them having to opt in (HUGE BENEFIT), deliverability's been great, it's incredibly easy to use, etc.
Though it can get a little expensive as your list grows, you should be making some nice bank to fund the extra costs. Just the fact that I don't have to deal with double optin at all if I don't want to makes it a winner for me.
It's perfect for Greyhat marketing...
