As I say "Cheapest seller makes the sale, everyone else walks"
People don't always use simple search results and pick the item at the top, they did a couple years ago but now most eBays who spend over $10.00 USD use the "Price + Shipping: Lowest" feature.

I specialize in
SEO (so I already realize ranking and web visibility won't be an issue) which is why I'm trying to find credible wholesalers that will dropship. In my opinion, for the vast majority the marketing aspect is a huge issue, but if you can get your website in front of your audience then you have indisputably beat the barrier to entry, no?
Also, what do you think about using dropshipping for loss-leaders, and then putting 'hot items' with larger profit margins in a fulfillment center so that majority of the website is automated?
You are right there are alot of scammers, however when people run into a scammer they are usually searching for a "DropShipper" Most manufacturers or distributors don't label them selves as "Drop Shippers" their bread and Butter is retail, and Drop Shipping is just another business model.
The easiest way to find a good supplier is find some manufacturers/importers or distributors that aren't advertising to the world that they drop ship.
Look on their "Become a Dealer Page" or call them and usually you will find out that they WILL Dropship.
Yes generally if you can rank high for items on seo you are going to do well.
Your site still has to look secure, and be easily navigatable at that point but you're off to a good start.
You can go about your business with a loss leader/fulfillment angle, but this depends on how many skus you want to sell. If you want to niche and sell a few hundred this works, but when you want to get into the thousands this is not an option generally.

While this is a good idea, most likely it will not work as the Supplier will research the business you are claiming.

That is true, BUT.
Many sellers don't know how to properly list an item.
So if other competitors items don't even come up in the search then you are not competing with a lower price.
Some things to remember when listing an item.
1. USE all possible characters in the title. (Remember the title is for search purposes not for capturing a customers attention) Don't use words like "Buy Now" or "Brand new in the box" rather use words that people will search.
2.Take the time to properly categorize your item, alot of sellers rush over this and just do Cat>Other.
3.Make sure your using free shipping. And you have a return policy of at least 14 days.
4.If you are selling more expensive items your feedback is very important, guard your feedback and protect it even if it means losing money at times.

I found couple of drop shippers online. After doing the math, I realized the profit it too small and wasn't worth the time. I don't know how people can still make a profit on ebay and Amazon selling at such a low price. Unless I'm looking at the wrong place for wholesalers.

Re: How to start a successful eBay business with 0 investments, and make more than enough
I am always looking for something new to sell.
It's been a very long time since I've found a reliable and profitable source for drop shipped products. Any help you can offer in finding solid sources for profitable products would be appreciated.

Re: How to start a successful eBay business with 0 investments, and make more than enough
My hurdle in ebay is how to get your item listed on the top and how can I get the price lower or same with my other competitor. The most important thing is, how to get a lot of feedback

Re: How to start a successful eBay business with 0 investments, and make more than enough
Thanks for a most excellent thread and for your time!
I read last week that it's not a good idea to sell certain high-competition
items on eBay...like electronics for example. He said it was just too hard to
compete with those "big dogs".
Is that true? If so, what eBay niches do you recommend that we stay away
from?
Can you share how you use Terapeak to your advantage in your business?
What are you looking for? Do you look for sellers making a lot of money and
then find a dropshipper for the same products?
Do you look for a niche product that has a really high successful sales rate but has room for another seller?
Thank you!

Re: How to start a successful eBay business with 0 investments, and make more than enough
Great post! I'm 15 and am looking to start an eBay business as well. The old route I used to take was buying pallets from wholesale sellers and then selling them for almost three times as much as I bought them for. Obviously, you cannot make any big money in this fashion. I'm hoping to start doing what you're doing with my niche being fitness equipment. I would love to shoot you an email, I can't put mine on here until I have more posts. If there's any way to contact you that would be great! Thanks so much for your contributions to the community!
Edit: I'm also in the U.S.A if that matters

Re: How to start a successful eBay business with 0 investments, and make more than enough
Hi. I'm from the UK and have been trading on ebay for many years. I would really appreciate it if you could show me some suppliers. I'm barely making enough money at the moment to cover overheads, it's almost not worth it.
Thanks for the post.
