How PayPal do this?

Hey, today on ebay was quite a strange situation.
I bought something on ebay and got scammed.
I know that the person who scammed me bought some virtual goods on ebay.
Is this possible to me to get the money back if that who scammed me bought something or that virtual goods seller already have my $$$ and there is no way I get it back?

I know about negative balance on ebay etc, etc but how its works if person who scammed me already bought something for that money? Or maybe even that virtual goods seller will be suprised with negative account balance.

If this situation is theoretical, and you're planning on scamming people to cash out through virtual goods, please don't do it.

With this said, whether or not the buyer will get their money back depends on the type of account the seller of the goods has. If the seller of the good has a PayPal account with a legitimate credit card or bank account attached, then chances are, the buyer will get their money back. Even if the balance goes negative, the funds will draw from the bank or credit card. On the contrary, if the seller of the goods has a PayPal account with a fake bank or credit card, then the buyer would be out of his or her money.

I am not sure about this. But once I got a negative balance because there was only a few dollars left in my account and a buyer opened a dispute because he said the items had not arrived. The amount of money being disputed far outnumbered the balance and the credit card I had on file had already expired.
I couldn't provide the purchase with a tracking number since it was sent using regular mail so I lost the case.
So in my case, it was possible for the buyer to get the money back even though I didn't have enough money to cover it.

the amount that is given back to the buyer even if it put you in negative equity or do do not currently have the funds for it, is the figure that paypal will put in the negative by, on your account until you repay it by that amount at a future date if you wish to continue to their services.

That's true.
So that gives a conclusion that buyers can still get their money back after being scammed, even though the money has been spent by the scammer/seller.

File a dispute (Ebay own paypal) and from there if as other posters said the person who scammed you has a legit credit card linked to the paypal account.. then you will probably definitely get refunded.. (that being said as long as your purchase was $200 or under). I cant remember but I think ebay only cover their users for up to $200.
