Default Ebay returns - how would you handle this?

So I was selling items for a shady dropshipper and they basically disappeared on me. I have a couple people trying to return items they bought almost 3 months ago because they have stopped working. My question is this, how do you respond to it...do you ignore them completely? Return the items and send them money back? Explain to them per the listing, returns aren't accepted?

It's past the time when they can leave me negative feedback or open a case. Just not sure how to handle these situations on eBay. Hate to just simply ignore them, but I'm starting to think it may be my best bet.

Any suggestions on how you've handled a similar situation?

    Thanks!

I wouldn't ignore them. Just inform them that since it has been longer than three months, you are not responsible for the items since you can no longer return them to your supplier, and therefore do not accept returns after that period.

IF its been past 45 days, and also 60 days (they can't chargeback) then who cares. It is not like you're a big store that offers warranty and such/

BTW: where you selling shitty chinese tablets? lol? Because i heard over a month or so they start to heat up and get fried.

If they no longer can do a chargeback, open case, or return said items simply be very polite and courteous and in the nicest way possible tell them no.

It sucks, yea. Will they create new accounts and leave you negatives? Maybe.

But even if you refunded them they might still do the same, and I know it sounds shady...but it would just be money out of your pocket.

I'd suggest you let don't sell on the account for a month or two, let it cool down a bit.

Use one of your backups, assuming you have one. Let the account chill, because you might be getting reported. Having the account frozen while in the middle of transactions is worse than not selling anything at that moment.

If you allow the account sit for a bit, chances are they angry buyers will forget about it, or let it go and not bother creating new accounts to leave negs.

If you continue to sell, previous buyers may have a hissy fit and try to get your account shutdown.

How is your return policy ? If you don't have one, you need to start making one.

My return policy doesn't go beyond 7 days. I am flexible but 3 months is more than what any company give

Ignore the hell out of them. Ebay and Paypal are already in cahoots to give all rights to the buyers and none to the sellers. The buyers have had ample time to complain during the first two months. If things break after that, it is not your problem. Besides, if the buyers wanted warranty and full service they should have bought their goodies in the high street shops.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! Yea, I've been handling them as politely as possible explaining the situation and how I'm unfortunately unable to return their items due to the length of time.

Also, my listing for this particular item stated returns weren't accepted.

Hopefully beings they're past the time for feedback and case to be opened theres nothing that can be done to impact my acct.

Lastly, this is my only eBay acct. In order for me to open another, this would be a stealth account? Is that technically the only way to have another eBay acct?

Have got same issues in the past, With Ebay, i was unable to do anything... PayPal just returned Money back to those idiots, i got my item back, after a month, and later Sold those items as "Open/Used Items"
My Advice, Forget about Ebay and go FAR AWAY from PayPal ( if you have big $ in Sales)...

I am going to come on a different tangent don't ignore them although chargeback period is done still give a good will gesture and send money back and close this chapter.

I have had ebay and paypal accounts and you might just get the continual / habitual moaner who complains and complains to ebay or paypal and what I hate about these companies is sometimes based on no evidence they still take action on you the buyer by disabling , freezing your account , negative feeback and so on. Literally its just not worth the taint on your name although remember reputation is one of the most important things always keep it impeccably clean.

    Just my 2 cents.

I agree! I've had some very close calls with paypal myself. The more and more I sell on eBay the more I'm learning how little control you really have. I'm starting to think promoting and selling on your own site is a better way to go...just love the high traffic eBay has.

I also agree here. In the past, I've offered partial refunds which seemed to satisfy the customer enough. I think I'm going to go this route regardless of the time it's been. Good reputation is very important for building a long successful business....thanks for sharing.

yeap. Ebay has a Great Source of Traffic, but all of those SUckers, knows that they can use your item for a while and later to ask for a refund...
in my opinion: Ebay+PayPal=End of the ERA...
just google, and you'll find millions of Posts about Ebay Sellers that Ended with Ebay and PP... Many guys who made 7 figure a year, Closed their Ebay Stores...

    It all depends on you.

Worst thing you can do is ignoring them.

A simple email explaining the issue would go a long way.

I agree, I have never handled things by ignoring them. I offered a partial refund just to please the buyer and he responded appreciatively...and all is good.

I am surprised anyone actually does any bizz on Ebay at all. It's human nature to try and con, cheat, moan and complain and if you give them all the power to do that ...they'll run amock. Which is what Ebay has become. No matter how you conduct bizz I'l lguarantee you wil lhave a % who will just love making your biz. a misery.

Imagine if we could lodge comlaints about banks, ploiticians just as easily and if they got too much negative feedback they got sacked. LOL. There would be uproar. Egay need to find more of middle ground to cater for the nature of the whiner! I wonder of they have EVER banned a customer? Doubt it.

Seems they're all coming out of the woodwork and it's been almost 4 months! What do you guys know about IC3? Apparently when he got in touch with ebay they advised him to contact them.
I offered a partial refund, which I think is more than fair but not sure if he'll accept.
Anyway, IC3 something to concerned about...I was dropshipping.
