How do I this item on Egay without getting screwed?
I am se lling an item on egay that is worth about $3,000. It is a very popular item, and it will sell guaranteed.
However, about 2 years ago I had an issue where I sent the item, the buyer chargedback, and sent me a box full of bricks with a tracking number to win the dispute. I ended up owing pay pal money.
How on earth do I s e l l safely being able to sleep at night knowing this wont happen?
There are SO many egay scams. Including unathorized transaction claims which seems like the new popular thing to do now.

Box full of bricks? Makes me wonder how much the shipping cost him on that?
Phone up eGay/GayPal and tell them about this. You're probably not the only one in the world and they've had to deal with such situations in the past.
They'll at least tell you what to do - show them some proof or to f*ck off ;]
Ask me for a coupon code

Don't ship to a PO Box. Ship to a physical address. Just in case buyer tries to scam you. You will have a name in which you can take them to court.

Sure this happens from time to time, but it does NOT happen often. I feel you pain and I have the same anxiety when I ship overseas a high ticket product. Trust me, most people on eBay are honest. If a buyer has a lot of feedback, take a look at "Feedback left for others" tab. Usually, if the buyer is a scammer, he will have given many negative feedbacks. That's a red flag for me. Other than that, either suck it up or sell elsewhere.

Buyers haven't been able to get negative feedback for years.
How did they do a chargeback, you refund, and then they send a box of bricks? That makes no sense. If a buyer does a chargeback, they don't have to return anything. If they tell you you have to refund, then don't refund until you've received the item.
At any rate, I have had some screwy cases with ebay/paypal. As long as you have a tracking number, you should be ok.

Easy, I do this all the time. Tell perspective buyer to email you at your private email. Offer them a deal to buy through paypal only. Invoice them directly through paypal as a non ebay purchase. Make sure you ship item with signature confirmation.
The only way they can getvthere money back is through there personal bank or if item was not delivered.

if it is a $3000+ item just state in the auction that because of the high value a deposit of 10% will be taken on paypal with the remainder either Bank Transfer or escrow, that way you are in control
