Paypal for e-commerce?

Hey, is it a good idea to offer paypal as the main and only method to pay for the goods on my website if the user is a simple internet user w/o a lot of knowledge and experience online? I would appreciate your opinion, thanks.

It's a good option for beginners & should definitely be offered on new websites. Using PayPal makes you look more reputable, but comes at a price as the fees are high

Yes! It is a good idea to add PayPal as an option to checkout. Even on my eCommerce sites where I have direct payment processing through credit card, the majority of the customers still opt to pay through PayPal because they see it as "safer".

Its a good idea because its unfortunately the most mainstream eCommerce payment option. Not anywhere near the best.

Google Checkout and Amazon Payment is also a good option, and probably better in terms of service and customer service.

I would consider it to be a good option. These days, they see PP as safe and reliable. It's also easier to handle. As you continue to grow though, the fees will start weighing on you.

I run a lot of ecommerce sites, and my advice would be this: Get away from paypal as soon as you can. I mean its a decent processor, but high fees, and not to mention that they will freeze your account and take your money for no reason makes it really dumb to stick with them. I've had friends lose too much money to paypal, even if they were 100% whitehat, same as ebay.

So using paypal for a few months is no big deal, but I would recommend once you have some sales records, apply for a authorize.net account. It's much safer, and the fees are lower too.

PayPal works, used 2Checkout also if your looking for a free processor... fees are alittle higher, but dont need to get a merchant account.

Authorize.net is not an option for me since I am not from the US or Canada. I`ve read a lot of negative reviews about 2checkout so I would like to stay away from them... I am really lost because I am about to sell some weight loss products (legit) and a lot of companies seem to stay away from such products... I would be grateful for any recommendation that would accept my website.

Yes , its easy to pay and easy to apply comparatively other payment systems .......

maybe you should accept another payment method such as liberty reserve or bank account
