New to this website creating thing! I have just bought a domain! Now whats the next step? May be silly asking but I am completely clueless and was wondering if anyone could point me in the correct direction!

Well if you got a domain then you need hosting.

You can use something cheap like Hostgator Baby Plan

Whatever you choose always make sure you get a hosting with cPanel as it is the most used and easier.

Your hosting will give you some name servers go to your domain registrar and set the name servers so that they point to your new hosting account

Once you get that look inside of cPanel for something called Fantastico, or Quick Install or Softaculus and use that to install wordpress in your site as is the most easier platform to use and most noobs and advanced guys use it.

The there you go go to your wordpress backend and install themes, plusing add, content ect ect and you got your site

Find a web hosting service and set up a little WordPress blog.

Laters you can try playing with real CMSs like Drupal and web frameworks like django.

is your domain by any chance "whatdoidoonceibuyadomainname.com"

You have 145 posts and have no clue..? Is this a joke?

I know it may sound silly, but I am on this forum for youtube! Have no experience with websites and this is the first time I have thought about creating one!

Download wordpress and put it on your site with ftp?
Then pick a theme, job done!

No seriously bro. don't feel 'dumb' this is how you learn by asking. There's nothing worst than a thread full of smart asses

No ones picking on you (at least i'm not..)

Yup install WP and you'll have a 'website' from there the 'fun' begins.

If you don't know WP Youtbe and the blogging sections are your friend....

Stay inspired!

Cheers!

If you are new start with weebly. (weebly.com)I did. I was clueless when I started.

Did you research your domain, is it an emd? What are you looking to do in terms of income for the site? Like others here have suggested, you need hosting, then install WP, add quality content and hey presto, your very own site!

You can watch youtube videos on how to install wordpress.

I believe there is a sticky in te Whitehat SEO section titled something like Complete Guide to Starting a Website, has a very good tutorial and step by step with suggested names for hosting ect, I personally use hostwinds

I agree with saber210 you can youtube your way into learning. There are tons of videos of how to set up hosting, Worpres and also how to manage Wordpress as well so there you go man.
