CPA CPA is an acronym for Cost per Action and refers to "ads" that are sold on the basis that money is only given when a certain action occurs because of the ad. A CPA ad could be one in which a publisher gets paid for people that click thru an ad and sign up for a newsletter or enter a contest or fill out a form for more information on a product. Many consider direct sales or Cost Per Sale ads, and CPC ads to also be a form of CPA. But CPA usually refers to being paid for leads, sign ups, and so on.

Default In CPA Marketing, what's theDifference between blanking and redirecting traffic source?

Hey Guys,

I'm doing alot of cpa and I've recently just implemented masking my traffic. My question is, what's the big difference between blanking the referrer and masking the referrer in the eyes of CPA networks?

Hi, well blanking shows the affiliate maanger a blank referer which means they will have no idea where the lead came from.

Masking or faking the referer means you are showing the referer as a different website to the one you have actually sent them from. i.e you have sent them from site A but the affiliate manager sees and thinks you have sent them from site B (the wh site).

The blank one I would have thought, if you fake the referer and the affiliate manager sees a nice white hat site they will probably think, well nothing fishy going off here, if they see a bunch of blank referers they may suspect although not necsesarily.

the answer of which is better really could go either way, because while blank refers might raise suspicion, it also may not because many marketers use it to protect from people stealing their ways of generating traffic.

a white hat looking landing page could also raise suspicion, because people are not that stupid. if you set up a silly little blog with 3 posts and a few banners and links and are getting thousands of hits and your site is listed at 111,999,999,999 in the search rankings, dont really expect people to believe something fishy isnt going on lol

Exactly, not necessarily. It depends how important you are to them.

You can also set up a bunch of WH sites and spoof from an array. That way if there are thousands of hits, they're not all appearing to come from one source.

Its funny this thread has come up actually as i have just received an email from a cpa company asking why have got a high conversion rate for some incent email submits that im running and asking to know my traffic source, now im not going to show them what it is but has anyone got an idea what i can reply with that sounds legit?

Got to reply today really with a valid answer. I would have thought that with incent submits the conversion rate would have been pretty high anyway but they seem to want to know why?

Holy SHIT!!!!!!!

Do you have a plan for if they ask? What are you gonna tell them?? I plan on telling them I use Adwords and also I often buy huge amount of traffic for cheap and direct it to my (super crappy) blog. Which is the truth actually, I just can't imagine how they can believe so many people click on my ads.

you have the right to keep it anonymous, as lot of aff managers started to share the traffic generation methods and damaging the earnings of the marketers, its simple tell them you are a serious company and that you want to keep the traffic sources covered tell them that you have nothing to hide and that the leads will convert for the merchant, and if they dont you will gladly switch to other campaign
