I decided to try driving traffic to a CPA offer with y4hoo 4nswers. Basically, I get paid each time someone downloads a certain program and signs up for an account. The affiliate link on my web page points directly to the download. I answered 10 question yesterday and when I logged onto CJ this morning, my stats are sales: 3, leads: 0, clicks: 12, imps: 1, CTR: 1200%, CR: 25%.

This is the first time I promote a CPA offer, but I think this will raise some red flags for sure . I want to keep promoting the offer but I'm not sure what percentage I should try to bring the CTR down to. I'm not really sure how to bring the CTR down. I'm not even sure if CJ can see where the traffic is coming from or not .

If I use an aff link that points to their website instead of a direct download, would that be safer?

Any help would be appreciated.

No need to trick people ALL the time. With yahoo answers offering a good suggestion or advice will make you the leads/sales. I'm going to suggest you start redirecting the traffic through a wordpress blog so you can have legit referrers and no questions.

Basically I looked for questions in y4hoo 4nswers where people were looking for something specific, then I just posted an answer saying you can find what you are looking for at www.mypage.com (Not my actual page btw). The people who visited my page got a message saying they would need to download a program to proceed. When they clicked the link to download the program, it redirected the request to a dummy site that I had setup and that site fetched the affiliate URL, which is a direct download. So the users were prompted to save the file when they clicked the link to download, without leaving my web page.

The affiliate offer that I chose is related to the questions I was answering, so some of the people who clicked the offer might have found what they were looking for.

Edit: So you think I should send the traffic to a blog that has a review for the software and offer the download link there? Would that be considered whitehat or would I still have to try to hide where the traffic is coming from?

Do you think if I put up some fake ads to drive traffic to my page that would help?

the problem is, unless the traffic is coming in at the same times as the conversions, its going to be blatently obvious you're trying to coverup something or buying traffic all of a sudden which isn't converting CJ seems (from what I've read mind you) to be pretty knowledgable with this stuff, so you have to out smart them...

There's a plugin for wordpress mentioned somewhere on this forum, i just cant recall the exact name of it but what it does is you send your traffic through a pre-determined link to your blog, and when it detects the traffic coming from this link it will redirect them to a cpa or wherever you want, versus if you went directly, all you see is a blog with you ad on the side

That really is not good, I think your AM is going to send you an email soon or maybe CJ will. be prepared.

I only used the aff link and not the img tag that CJ provides, could that be why no impressions are registering? Will CJ care if I don't use the img tag because I'm not sure how I would add it. I just have a link to the affiliate download.

How many leads/sales do you consider under the radar?

Good question, I can get more sales but I'm worried that I will be on the radar once I start scaling up method.

Try displaying a banner everywhere using this code

Just put the banner on a page and refresh it a few times. With the amount of impressions here you can do it your self and get it back down. You could also put the banner on a page and submit it to stumbleupon in the Internet section and you should get your impressions up in no time. Of course on this page that you submit to stumble break the automatic download.

CJ won't see that code. Display it twice on every page. Use a php include.

I dont see a massive problem? What if he just took the link and didnt use their banners? Then there would be no impressions anyway.

That's exactly what I did pyro, I used their link but not banner. So you think that should be OK right?

In general, CPA offer in CJ can't be promoted via incentived methods. So the CTR is important in this condition. But if you promote CPS offers, it doesn't matter.

I do the same thing on EPN, I don't use their tracking pixel, so I never show any impressions.

I've never had a problem with a crazy high conversion rate, because there's still plenty of traffic coming through, just that the impressions aren't there.

You should install that pixel using a banner as suggested if you want to see the realistic conversion rate and keep CJ happy...

send some fake traffic to it youll probably get a mail from them asking about your traffic to vailidate it.

buy some crappy traffic and lower your CTR

Do not worry about it. That percentage is based on clicks, not impressions. You can have 1 impression with 100 clicks. With some programs it's dependent on how many links within the site the lead clicks. As long as you are driving traffic legitimately I would not worry about it.

To answer your problem, by the number of sales you made and number of visitors you got, I'm sure you are under the radar.

you need to find a text link affiliate link and not hte banner link, what is saying to ur AM right now is that 1 person saw your banner but 12 people clicked on it

Anyways, saracin, sorry about the rant. About the CJ thing, from MY exp (Which might be very different than yours) I got caught. I had like 6 leads in one day and they flipped out on me. I realize what I did wrong but still. I lost out on that 35 beautiful dollars. Either that or the Affiliate Manager I got was a real *****.

How much you got in your CJ account? It also depends on the amount in there.

The problem:

You aren't getting any impressions because you aren't using CJ's image for the offer.

To fix your problem:

Download the image to your hosting, then contact your Affiliate Manager, (or wait for them to call you about this) and tell them that you downloaded the image to your server space and that is why there are no impressions.

If I could say one thing, CJ is very picky about direct linking via social sources. Be very very careful. When i first started a while ago....I thought man this is going to be to EASY but after 2 months I got the email. You all know what email I got. I answered honestly said "I posted on craigslist" They said don't do it again its against tos. I said sorry. and poof, still around still making $3000/month. CJ is a love hate relationship.

Why don't you throw some junk traffic at the pages with cj banners on your site. You can get shitty traffic from ifsmall.com
