Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
Seems like a nice way for them to tell you that hey, were gonna stiff you this month because mama needs a new diamond necklace for christmas.
Man these guys are getting ridiculous, sorry to here that man. Good luck though, hope you give an "approved" traffic story. Hopefully they'll accept natural search engine traffic. Then again, they may change the rules this week too.
I understand that certain tactics are unacceptable and when you get caught it sucks, but even they're stiffin the white hat traffic too, so I guess it balance's out in the end. Usually in their favor though.
Good luck man.

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
Thanks bro, I just read that if you say:
you've been having issues with other networks stealing your traffic/implementations so you just blank it all now to make sure you don't have to go toe to toe with anyone anymore
that it works most of the time...
kinda want a more solid answer before I respond...
was thinking of saying that above then mentioning other tactics of driving traffic.. like: " I use PPC over a few different networks and some offline marketing to get the majority of my traffic. I also have been getting into directory submissions for certain keywords."
try and switch the subject and sound legit... thoughts?

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
are you blanking? what is your real traffic source?

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
yea using a double meta...
CL and kijiji
they asked "what triggers ur redirect"
I have a button on my site that interested parties click to then goto the affiliate page...
nothing really wrong with that right... thinking of saying:
Sorry I didnt respond sooner, I rarely check this account. Might need to update my contact info.
What triggers your redirect? - Well I have a submit button on my site that candidates click then goto the page where they submit their email through. My buddy who got me into this affiliate marketing explained that he was having lots of issues with affiliate networks and other affiliate publishers stealing his traffic and advertising relationships so he instructed me to
blank the referrer (or put -
create this redirect - since thats what they asked) to make sure I don't have to go toe to toe with anyone.
I have been using PPC, yada yada, make up some WH stuff...
think it'll work?

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
you have to be careful because these affiliate networks will start hating on you if your making money. That response sounds pretty good to me. But for the future i would advise you to make separate affiliate accounts to have smaller makings in single accounts but numerous accounts.

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
Yea I sent that and got another response back questioning why I had a second re-direct... "wheres the logic?" the guy asks....
basically said I dont know, a friend hooked it up, worked for him, I tested it and it worked for me... I liked the way it made my affiliate link look normal rather then http://asdfjqwnajksld.com/289034781298347 because nobody will click on a link that looks like that... that should be reason enough in itself....
this is fucking ridiculous though - right before payday. these bastards come out and basically can just fuck u in the a$$ ... im sending ur advertiser relevant traffic... pay me... now they screw me and take even more off the top, of what they are probably already skimming me on...

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
Yea, the BH biz is definately getting more and mores sophisticated. Multiple account are going to be a MUST have soon - at least for serious cash.
I'm still liking this game to the old 'Wild Wild West' days! Get you Gold now and put it into more solid, long term projects that will produce revenue streams or increase in value for future sale!

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
Yeah I highly recommend having two accounts with the bigger networks.
Register one under your personal name and the other under a company name. It costs cash to set up a legit company obviously, but it is well worth it.
I believe Uptownbulker offers this service. He is a member of this forum.

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
I'm not even making that much thats why I dont understnad why they are grilling me. I made like $100 a day 4 times in the past month, and on average pull in about $35 per day....
My "link" has a very high EPC according to CJ's stats, and my EPC is even lower then that...
dont know how I got onto their radar...

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
PPC is usually a good answer, I have also said "links from an ebook I distribute for free".
Though lately I just make sure that all traffic has one of my domains as the refer. I don't give them impression data, but I do make sure (most of) the traffic comes from me.

Is there any diff between the application for personal n company?
Will overseas registered company eligible for applying the networks, or must it be within US? Thanks

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
Some posts on this forum told me to say something like 'I'm not very excited about revealing my traffic sources' and basically try to BS them as much as you can..
Personally, i've never been questioned, but one can never be certain. They even try to cram WH stuff..

I would not give a response like that. Basically your telling the man that holds your money to kiss your ass. Not very smart in my opinion, because he can screw you in the end. Just tell him that you blank the referrer to keep your traffic from getting stolen. If he asks any further questions, tell him you promote via adwords and yahoo.

You get my vote on this, these people are just waiting for one stupid small mistake and bannng your money is gone. Play smart and safe. Tell them exactly what blackhataffiliate said and sound a bit professional.
PS : Let us know how it goes..

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
OK haven't been back to this thread for a while...
lets just say my earnings are STILL in limbo...
After multiple emails back and forth - and they wait for you to not respond bc they add this clause at the bottom of every email... "if u fail to respond within 48 hours, we will take that as accepting the fact of your wrongdoing and terminate your account" ... so if this does happen to you, respond ASAP everytime...
I said I used the meta-refresh to blank my affiliate link and create something more user friendly. My affiliate ID originally looked something like (http://jkasdfjka.com/890471239854jksdf2380) and I said I found this chunk of code (meta refresh) that enabled me to change that to whatever I wanted and made it more user friendly for a random browser.
CGay bought it, its actually true, I would never click a link that looked like that... However they made me change my web site settings to incentivized/special because they deemed my acct special for blanking the referrer - apparently networks are working bigtime to get a legit clause on this... probably just to screw us more.
Anyway CJ re-instated me, but you have to re-apply to all your advertisers after changing your acct settings (special now) ... I re-applied and most of my advertisers automatically approved, but my main earner has yet too.. and I am still waiting... Multiple emails through my CJ acct, to the actual company, all going un-answered...
almost a month now... and still waiting on a nice $1500 thats just sitting there...
SOB ...

Probably that merchant has issue a complaint to CJ.
Check this thread to elaborate an answer on how to handle future complaints.

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
Yeah, that sucks bro...hopefully they don't withhold your payment and ban your account. Were you CS ?
-
-
Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
If you sign up with web site settings to non-incentivized, you will be cared more though you can get accepted to more advertisers. In my opinion, you should sign up with site settings to incentived.

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
nah no CS... straight CL and blanking the referrer...
pretty sure they are just never going to respond to me and im F-ed

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
I feel your pain. Back in September, I had the exact thing happen to me, I explained everything and they made me change my special instructions. Did that, and everything went on fine.
Then, right before payment in December, they questioned the exact same thing. I told them that I had already gone through this and everything was approved. Didn't matter, they banned me and I have been emailing them a couple times a week and have never received a response. The thing that really pisses me off is that is was all WH, perfectly legit, but they don't seem to care.
I even called them and they won't talk about it, say I have to email them and they will respond, what a load of crap.

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
does this only happen if a merchant asks cj to look into the account or does cj randomly review accts and see who they can screw?
-
-
Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
There are a lot of reasons for this to happen, merchant filling a report, cj randoms affiliate's sites review, but the usual reason is unormal trends in your numbers compare to the other affiliates that are running the same campaign, so watch out for ctr, engaging traffic, earning a lot of money in a short period, not earning money at all, short burst of traffic mix with quiet periods (like a sinewave pattern).
To fly under the radar, your traffic, conversions, and ctr, must grow steadily in a normal random pattern, month after month.

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
I find it kind of funny that people bitch about networks fucking them when they probably spend most of their day trying to fuck the networks...
don't put all your eggs in one basket, try some wh while your bh methods run on autopilot....
Contact your networks and AM's before anything bad happens, make friends...

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
I am not sure on how it was flagged, but I was doing less than $30 per day, and it was pretty consistent over 3 months, so who know how they do it.

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
Thats just the thing, for the banner ad that I was using, my CTR and percentages were right on par if not lower then the going rate. I figured I was scott free.... apparently not

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
WOW!
I am glad this worked out.
I got 35 dollars taken away from me from CJ.com.
IT sucked and I hoped you did not have your 1,300 taken away.
Glad it did not.

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
You know don't feel bad ok. I don't use black hat methods (yet) still learning, I use ppc. One of my advertisers is hot right now in the internet world paying 25.00 per lead. I can easily generate 30-40 leads a day. CJ had the balls to ask me my promo methods I shot back a quick smart ass reply told them PPC, so that was ok now the advertiser is slowly reversing all of the legit leads, I told him if I ever come to his town which is in Las Vegas which I do go to often I am going to look his ass up. He stopped reversing. Legit or not legit cj and merchants screw with you because of the economy and other wealth building issues. Don't get me wrong, CJ pays, but they too are snakes and when sleeping with a rattlesnake you should never keep your eyes off of them.

Re: CJ Questioning my Traffic - what do I respond with?
I have had an AM admit to my face that they were turning their pixel off a percentage of the time in order to make ends meet, hoping I would understand their position. I wish I had a fucking tape recorder. That is outright fraud! And they hide it behind bullying tactics and do things a lot shadier than most in here ever will to dick over the people who keep them in business. I can't believe affiliates just take this shit and don't go class action on the whole industry.

I doubt making friends is going to help frozen funds or suspended accounts. A long while back I ran an incentive website and made a big friends with Max_B0unty AM . They were giving me 'special rates' and asking me to do everything I could to move this or tat offer untill I started hitting $10k+/mo . Thats when they decided to suspend my account and claim that because of low quality traffic I actually owe them money . Big networks will use any chance to stick you up . Be careful.

That's the reason you should split risk using different affiliate networks, and never serve 10K in profits to one aff.network / merchant alone.
