am i doing something wrong?
i've been at BHW and have been testing different ideas for the past 4 months now. i think im on to something but the results are a lot lower that i am expecting.
im promoting an offer through small targeted email lists that i have gathered myself, just sending them a response and recommending my affiliate hyperlink. leads are very warm, they email me about 'x' and i am responding with "sorry, x is not available anymore, but here is an alternative to x".
stats:
ive sent 270 emails over the past week
130 clicks (according to CJ stats)
impressions: 2
conversions (on cj, they label this 'leads'): 1
so i made 1 conversion, with 130 clicks and 2 impression. i understand why the impressions are not 130. the first impression occurred with my only conversion, the 2nd impression was not a conversion.
do you guys know why this 2nd impression is showing in my cj stats?
also, i understand my conversion rate could be low because of a poor IM strategy or bad choice of product, however i have received around 15 responses saying things such as "thanks, i will give this a try" (if they do, that would mean a conversion for me) to them being interested and asking me more about it
it costs them $4 to complete the conversion. i do tell them this in my email. they read that sentience before they reach my affiliate link towards the end of my email.
with the 15 intrested responses, i would expect to have 5-8 leads, but still stuck at 1
im pretty sure my campaign strategy is a good one. i don't think i am overestimating my expected conversion rate. i have overestimated this in the past, recognized the faults and changed or dropped those campaigns pretty quickly. i think its more likely that i am doing something wrong involving cj, my aff links or something else. i am hoping you guys will have potential problems that i am not aware of. i am a little worried i am sending them conversions that i am not gaining credit for.
anyway, i hope someone can help. if my IM strategy isnt going to work, i'd have no problem moving on but im not convinced thats the issue.

Re: am i doing something wrong?
You need a bigger list and/or better emails. The leads are either not warm or not targeted correctly but it's hard to say with such a small amount of emails. These things take time and you need to be doing a much higher volume. 270 emails really isn't that much and is a poor sample size to get any good statistics.
I would work on building your list, split testing emails, split testing offers, and possibly try using a landing page as a presale.

i know expecting "10 conversions" from 130 clicks or 270 emails may be unrealistic. the thing im stuck on is the 15 interested responses i got. they say in various ways, "thanks, i will try this". of these 15 people, i would think more than 1 of them would convert for me. am i just wrong in assuming this?
and i would like to understand where these 2 impressions came from. i dont get any impressions from the aff link i send, i get that. the 1st impression happened the same time i got my 1st conversion. so i assumed it gives me an impression when they complete the conversion. but what about the 2nd impression? that didnt come with a conversion and it didnt come from my aff link...so how did it get there?
just an fyi: my aff link sends them to an basic email+name sign up form, next it takes them to a sales page with the "click to join" option. next it takes them to the page where i convert, they fill out all of the required info and pay the $4. all the pages here are from the affiliate, not me

eerp, i figured out where the 2nd impression came from.
what kind of sample size would you say is large enough to make an accurate decision whether this is a good IM strategy or not?
