Arrow Links?

Hey guys

I have a question about how the links work at Commission Junction. Is there any way that you can link to an individual page within a merchants website? If so, how do you do it?

So you want to send your visitor to the merchant side but not the landing page that they have set up and hope they eventually end up buying, signing up...etc at the main page? I'm sure you could probably tweak the html code where it says "get html" when you're getting your link code and change it to whatever you want. Problem is, I don't think your visitor will get cookied with your aff id if they don't hit the main landing page.

It shoudn't be too hard to test. Some of CJ's text links actually track impressions of the text link itself too. Just sign up for some merchant, tweak one of those text links that tracks impressions-pointing it to a deep link instead of the landing page, put it up somewhere and follow it like you expect your visitor to...click it, meander around and end up at the signup page. Check your reports a few hours later and if it's showing impressions but no clicks, it ain't working. There's probably an easier/better way to test but I'm a moron.

I am getting clicks but no impressions, I know that means there is something incorrect in my links (pixel graphic), but will that affect it tracking sales and leads?

Some text links, but not all have an impression tracking pixel in it. If you take a look at a few text links some will be noticeable longer and have two url's in it meaning it has the tracking piece too. It's not by advertiser whether they have the impression tracker in there, it's by link itself. If you're looking for the impression piece, just take a look at all the different text link code they have and see if one has the impression pixel component.

Yes, I'm aware of which links that have the impression tracking pixel in it, which is all of them (with the particular advertiser). Will it affect the actual tracking of the leads and sales, if you omit this piece from the url?
