Commission Junction and CraigsList/ other classifieds
I have been reading about this relationship, and it seems cj advertisers are not really too fond of craiglist or other classified website traffic.
My question is, is that really a given to all advertisers on CJ (like something from the rules of conduct or something), or i should only worry at those that specify this on their cpa details.
I ask this because, some really state " No craiglist " or something like that, but a lot of them dont mention anything about this type of traffic.
Do you guys have any thoughts on this ?
Thanks

Re: Commission Junction and CraigsList/ other classifieds
You might want to read the CJ code of conduct for publishers....
The Use of Non-Publisher Owned Web Properties/Sites/Pages to Promote Advertisers. Other than paid search, publishers may only promote advertisers on Web pages/sites/properties that they, themselves, own or operate. Publishers may not place affiliate links/tracking code, nor promote Web sites that contain affiliate links/tracking code, in or on third-party: forums, message boards, blog comment areas, classified advertisement services (such as CraigsList.org), etc., unless given permission from the third-party to do so.
Sometimes, when I'm alone......I google myself.

Of course those terms don't mention how you find your customers to market to. Posting an affiliate to cl is dumb. Going fishing for clients on there...and marketing that link to them later is the way to go.

Exactly Eyerish, you must get creative in sidestepping stipulations and what not (: I am struggling to get started, I have learned or rather read so many different methods to make money online. I unfortunately dont have a site so I must rely on the free sources. Good post (:

True. Anyone who takes a CL lead directly to an offer is asking for trouble, unless the network you are dealing with permits it. Always have an interim spot to drop a referer before going to the money site. If you don't have money for a domain/website, just use a free blog or lens or something.

Re: Commission Junction and CraigsList/ other classifieds
You could lose an advertiser if they catch you posting in CL even if you are driving that traffic to one of your sites... that cost me about 1400.00 a year and a half ago... traffic was sent to my site from CL and that traffic converted.
I was doing that for quite some time and then "Puff" 1400.00 was taken from my account and that advertiser fired me.
Tread lightly.

How did they justify it?, since the traffic was not direct from CL, you could have had other entry points to your website.

It is in the TOS... not sure if it is the advertiser or CJ itself that using a site like CJ is NG. I don't remember the wording but when they pointed it out I saw that I had no case and acquiesced.

i misunderstood your question. Send traffic your your own site first before send them to advertisers.

Re: Commission Junction and CraigsList/ other classifieds
It's all in the quote cyberdillema put up
Publishers may not ... promote Web sites that contain affiliate links/tracking code, in or on third-party ... classified advertisement services (such as CraigsList.org)
So i can send traffic to my site/blog, that has the affiliate link, but just cannot do it from CL or any other classified. Think there is not really a safe way around this.
In fact this could be a way to "eliminate" competition if we blast craiglist with someones blog post with the aff link.

Re: Commission Junction and CraigsList/ other classifieds
CJ does not like CL traffic for anything, including their pay per call program and will drop the ban hammer if they catch you. You are much better off sending CL traffic to a landing page first, grabbing an email address sign-up then moving them to an offer through email or a redirect.

Re: Commission Junction and CraigsList/ other classifieds
hey guys I have gotten pretty good at using CL to get traffic to anything I imagine. I have a crappy ringcentral affiliate site setup, anyone want to make some money helping point me in the right direction to monetize? I work in the telecom industry for my job, I am very knowledgeable about sector and I know there is a decent market for it. Just challenging picking a place to put my focus. I'm willing to pay someone to consult with me to figure out a direction or even scrap my site completely. I spent a few hundred dollars on the piece of crap, it was really my first project ever, and it's failing miserably, I want to see if there is some way to turn it around.
If you are interested pm me.
Thank you all for this post!
