There are a number of services that monitor branded PPC keywords and ads. These services all say they:

- Can detect advertisers bidding on your brand terms
- Can detect affiliates bidding on brand terms
- Can detect ads that copy yours, no matter what the link
- Detect from various geo-locations and at all times of day

Does anybody have any experience using these? Insight into how they work? Also, my specific questions are:

- Do these services use spiders? If so, has anybody started assembling user agent info
- How can they monitor branded keywords without causing either impression or click spam?

I'd like to hear from anybody with insight into how these brand defense systems work, and how effective they are. Anybody?
