cloaking is mainly black hat SEO technique and doorway page method.

When the content present in search engine is different from the user's browser is called cloaking.


It is not good for SEO

Doorway pages are not necessarily cloaking though. I've a writeup on it.

But I want to effectively separate the idea of traffic and human+spider management from the idea of cloaking. If you show the spider a different thing, you're cloaking, but if you send the spider along with your human traffic, you're optimizing.

In other words, it can't be said that there is no such thing as a White Hat doorway page.

it's best to think of cloaking as a way to funnel traffic from one place to another automatically.

Cloaking by itself is not an SEO technique.

Some affiliate networks do not allow you to cloak your links so that they can see the referrer.

Just FYI... We (as in Google Raters WE) Penalize DA' HELL outta cloaking... You'd better pray your site doesn't fall on the eyes of a fellow rater my friend... :3

well...imma offer you my 2 cents ...that come from experience with cloacking....

stay away from it .. ..i accept the fact that im not an expert in this domain but i used it in the past on one of my sites and luckly for me i only got a notice from google and kept my serp...

so just dont use it.

Cloaking isn't necessarily a blackhat method. Some location based advertising services actually cloak in order to supply different contents to different users/bots in order to increase CTR. However, if you use Cloaking to manipulate SE, you're risking your websites rankings in SE.

Geotargeting and cloaking are two different concepts and techniques. Geotargeting is mainly using the visitors IP to redirect to a specific landing page.
Cloaking is hiding content shown to users from the search engines.
Cloaking is mainly an on page factor of SEO as you are creating highly optimized pages; however, these days off page factors (backlinks) is of most importance.

So, if you use a cloaking script that generates content and urls on the fly, you still have to get backlinks thru commenting, directory submitting, etc.

OMG, I was thinking the whole week I want to try the "Cloacking" but when I read this tread - CLOAKING Okay no thanks.

Cloacking is fooling the SE, and fooling the SE is not good. Stay away from it, or when they got you, you doom.
