Default How Does this Website Get Away with This?

    I'm curious how
    Code:
    traileraddict.com
is able to host trailers from the likes of yahoo and apple on their US servers without breaking copyright? I know they're not embedding from any other source based on their about page and server usage statistics... how the heck?!

Buddy, next time, don't list another site please, it might belong to other BHW members and draw neg attention to it.

anyway...maybe they just name the source and dont claim that they own it? IDK

It's movie trailers... The movie industry wants people to view the trailers so sites like that is just free publicity. It's only against copyright laws if it is out of the fair-use boundaries.

lol they arent claiming to own anything they are showing
they arent giving out full video content for free
    they are showing commercials
As long as they dont say we own this commercial and arent making money off showing the commercial then they are good.
And they provide a link back to the site giving ups to the places where the video is hosted
    so its all good
And possibly they could be in a movie affiliate prog so every full commercial u see they get buck or something. I would love to find that kind of prog. and just throw them up on the youtubes

You guys haven't obviously tried to upload trailers to Youtube because not all movie companies like their trailers to be shared by random Youtubers or websites... I have had numerous Youtube trailer channels where I have only uploaded trailers, given correct copyright information (not said that I own the copyrights) etc. but still some companies like Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment have reported the trailers and got my channels banned.

Please notice that my channels were not monetizing the views in any way. I didn't put any annotations to the videos nor did I link to any 3rd party websites from the description. Still the companies claimed copyrights to those videos and got them deleted. For example trailers for movies like Machete (I got over 100'000 views in a few days before the trailer was deleted) and Twilight got copyright claims from the companies.

So yeah, I also wonder how that site gets away with hosting the trailers... Maybe they have agreements from the movie companies or something. I would love to know because I have a perfect domain for a movie trailer website but haven't established the site yet because I'd like to get some insight into how these trailer sites work.
