Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
Last night I decided that I wanted to create an auto blog. So I read up on how to do it here on BHW, thanks by the way, and today after spending several hours I have created my first auto blog.
Here's how it breaks down.
I was able to download a free auto blog software offered here to BHW members. It is called Auto Blogging Software by WebMagnates.org
The software is pretty amazing. After setting everything up and inputting all of the RSS feeds I created over 2000 articles that had been translated three different times. The content is not very readable but I am going to be putting a pop-up on every page so I am not too worried about it.
After posting all of the articles, activating all the plugins, setting everything up and tweaking the theme to what I wanted everything is done.
I then submitted the sitemap to all the major search engines and installed Google Analytic's. All in all it cost me about $12 to do.
As of right now I have 18 pages indexed. Also I am currently running a ScrapeBox blast on my site to put a comment on every single article as well.
I will do this several times on and off for the next couple of days and then I will start running ScrapeBox blasts to other sites.
The main reason that I created this auto blog is for lead generation. Each lead to me is very valuable and is the reason why I did not install adsense or amazon or anything else along those lines.
Here is where the case study comes in:
1. I want to see how many pages I can get indexed?
2. How many leads can I generate daily?
3. Will the links show up as backlinks in Yahoo and Google Webmasters?
If you have been thinking about starting an auto blog or are interested in testing a marketing theory on an auto blog let me know and I will be more than happy to test it on mine and share the results.
I am looking at this completely as a test site and I am not worried about getting de-indexed, sandboxed, banned, or my internet catching on fire.
Thoughts? Comments? Thoughts on preventing zombie attacks? Let me know.

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
I would recommend NOT blasting your website with SB or Xrumer. You will be sandboxed. Best is to create link pyramids and blast the hell out of them.
If your website is sandboxed, you will not even see the $12 that you put in. $12 may not be a lot for you, but, why make a loss at all

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
i am afraid that indexing is not the problem my friend. a month ago i started 6 non-english autoblogs each has about 4000 unique article and each has almost 700 indexed page in google. all i get is 12 uv/day to all the 6 domains. may be the domains are new (1 month) but i was expecting more success with all the 4000 indexed pages on google.

Pretty sure he said he is running SB on his own site to post 1 comment on each article so it looks like the site is populair.

Do NOT use scrapebox on autoblogs, especially if they are not readable.
You will be reported by blog-owners.

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
I am using Scrapebox to comment on MY auto blog. Therefore if I report myself to myself I will be sure to give myself a good spanking.
As of right now I have 5 UV. The site has been live less than 24 hours. They are showing up as direct hits in Google Analytic's. This seems very odd to me right now.
Today the plan is to upload 2000 more articles that will be posted every 15 minutes. I am trying to make sure that content is always staying fresh and does not appear to instantly stop to Google.
Also I am very tempted to do a SB blast directly to my main site. I did this with another site and I now have a PR2 main page with many PR1 pages (about 50).
Again I am not worried about getting sandboxed. So thank you for letting me know that this will get me sandboxed although I have YET to see this actually happen in previous tests.
@daserpent one thing I have learned is that it is better to pay for a mistake than an education. You learn more. The $12 is throwaway compared to what I will learn and if I am successful the $12 will have a return on investment in the 1000% percentile range. The risk is worth the reward.
Today I am also going to install a pop up with a webform. Does anyone know of a good program I can get for free?
Also everyone says to keep them updated and I will be sure to do that, however, I am looking for your suggestions on what to do to this site. As of right now here is the plan:
1. Scrapebox blast to AA lists with all 2000+ links in the website section. This will make sure to sporadically give links for the whole website.
2. Upload more articles to drip feed over the course of the next two weeks.
3. Create Hubpage and Squidoo page pointing to main page.
4. I would like to have someone trade an Xrumer blast for an SB blast. Or even a Bookmarking Demon blast. Let me know if you are interested in doing this. I have quite a few AA lists.
5. Your thoughts? Suggestions? I really don't want this to be a thread about "no, don't do that". I want your wild suggestions and thoughts.
Comments? Thoughts? Suggestions? How to guide on disinfecting zombie bites?

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
After looking at my first post I realized that I did not really give a how to guide on how to set up an auto blog. Now I do not consider myself an expert at this and I stressed that I searched here on BHW for hours and read many threads before I moved forward. So what I would like to do is give you a break down of everything I did and explain why I did each thing.
Also I would like to point out that this is an UNPROVEN METHOD but for all the people out there that are thinking about doing this it will atleast get you started and hopefully motivated.
Favorite saying: Ignorance on fire is better than Knowledge on ICE!
So let's get started.
1. First install your blog
2. Download and configure the following plugins:
a. force-publish-schedule
b. Google Analytics for WordPress
c. Google XML Sitemaps
d. Pix-Plugin Auto_Inserter
e. SEO Content Control
f. SEO Friendly Images
g. SEO Ultimate
h. Yet Another Related Posts Plugin
3. You can change your theme, I did, and edit it to remove footer links, sidebar links, and anything else that is unfitting and will deter people from clicking on what you want them to click on. Either adsense or amazon ads or whatever.
4. Download Auto Blog Software. I couldn't find the original thread here on BHW that gave this link but either way here you go.
Code:
http://webmagnates.org/abs-promo/
Once you download, install, READ the PDF that comes with it. It explains everything and is really helpful.
5. Find the RSS Feeds that you want to download. Here are two sites that you can narrow down into your niche. This will get you started.
Code:
http://ezinearticles.com/rss/
Code:
http://goarticles.com/rss-feeds.html
6. Post articles to blog after everything has finished downloading and translating.
7. Submit sitemap to Google, Yahoo, and Bing.
My first time around I was able to get 2000 posts. I used the force-publish plugin to get content on the blog right away and then I am dripping content from there. Configuring the plugins is very important. This will help with interlinking, meta data, and general SEO. The great thing is the set it and forget it. Once a week go into ABS and upload more posts.
There may be better ways, there may be worse. However this is a start.

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
Unable to find a good pop up code that I don't have to pay money for so i added an exit warning that will direct them to my squeeze page. We'll see how this works out. Unless someone has a pop up that's free that they know of.
Currently running a SB blast will all 2k URLs as the websites to 15k AA list. Once this has finished I will run a direct blast to the main page with a different 25k AA list.
Still looking for someone willing to do a Bookmarking Demon or Xrumer campaign for a SB blast trade. Or maybe have me set up an auto blog just like mine for them.

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
What about this for pop up, its free but you have to opt in. http://bigsellingoptins.com/
Why would you scrapebox your own site? what would be the benefit of comment spam for the site itself do you think?
Everyone knows the theories, few has the persistent to implement it..

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
I was very careful with my comments and the reason being so when people come and see that their are comments it adds more validity. Maybe not. Either way I figured it couldn't hurt and it took two seconds to set up.
Thanks for link. I will look into that later and let everyone know how easy/hard it was to install and configure.

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
A few interesting facts so far:
Doing a site search in Google on my PC in Chrome: 18 results
Doing a site search in Google on my ATT iPhone in Safari: 50 results
Also Analytic's, Bing, Yahoo, and G Webmasters are not showing any backlinks or that any pages have been indexed. In fact they are still showing No Data across the board.
Also I have been getting some odd traffic patterns from Ohio, Tenn, Kentucky, and New York (Long Island).
Also I connected Facebook and Twitter to the blog so that any news posts will automatically get sent there. Set up the pop up and exit splash. Also did the SB blast and got 140 live links to various pages on the site. Many more should approve over the next couple of days.
Tomorrow I will be doing a SB blast to the main page. Targeting one keyword now until tracking details get into the various analytic settings. Then I will target more specific ones.
Still hoping for someone willing to do a Bookmarking Demon or Xrumer blast for me. Willing to do a SB blast, set up a autoblog, or maybe you have a suggestion? I am an awesome coder. Either way let me know.
Thoughts? Comments? What should I put in my fall out shelter for the pending Zombie attack?

Looking for an auto blog youtube post with RSS feed. Or a software.

Something where I can automatically insert youtube videos into posts would be awesome as well.
Anyone have any ideas? Trying to do this without paying for a plugin.

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
I have an auto blog setup for a poker site which I started roughly 5 weeks ago (the auto blog that is) and the UV's keeps on rising. Past the 100 a day point and yesterday hit 142 visitors from organic traffic.
I don't do anything special, WP-Robot setup to pull articles based on my KW's and I also have TBS activated. Currently sitting around 1500 posts.
-
-
Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
@pinkbitz How did you get around the 250 queries per day with TBS? Did you buy multiple licenses? It would be nice if you gave us a break down of everything you did. Kinda of like a how to guide.
Also what modules did you buy with WP-Robot?

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
To rank on Google, you don't need to spin or try to make post unique. All you need is right keyword, legal content and 2-5 posting per 24 hour. Using unreadable translated content cause 100% bounce rate and epic fail

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
I agree 100% with you Autoblogger however testing is what makes things important. With this i am doing a pop up, on page webform, and exit splash. Trying to capture people without doing much work or spending any money.
The better auto blogging software you have to pay for, which if I was trying to create a network of 10-100 blogs getting $1-$50 per month then I would by the software. I am only trying to get people to either sign up for a newsletter OR download a free report.
FYI bounce rate is 43% right now. With 2 leads already captured. I have already made money off this blog due to the Lifetime Value of those leads and what it normally costs me to acquire the same lead.

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
Still trying to figure out how to make the front page have the most recent posts. Very frustrating. Hopefully someone on here has had this problem before.
Also I have started doing Twitter marketing for the twitter account associated with this blog. Twitter traffic is starting to pick up.
Using TwitterAdder. Seems to be working find. Found 200,000 people that I am currently trying to follow.
Really hoping someone can help me out with this posting issue.

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
Well already starting to get some traffic:
Code:
Sources Visits % visits
(direct) 7 63.64%
twitter.com (referral) 2 18.18%
bing (organic) 1 9.09%
enhanced.charter.net (referral) 1 9.09%
Referrals
Code:
Pop Up and Exit Splash have referred 3 people to my money site.
Nothing showing up in any of the analytic's.
Still haven't fixed the posting issue. So far no one has any suggestions. Thinking about making a page as the home page anyways with keyword rich article. This way my homepage with be targeted with my blog's main keyword. This could be a blessing in disguise anyways.

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
Woke up this morning to a happy surprise. While there is still no tracking data in Google, Yahoo, or Bing, Google Webmasters has updated and I have 1,659 pages indexed. Woot, Woot!
Also have I have captured three leads with the pop-up and exit splash.
If everything went to shit right now this would still be consider a success!
Why haven't YOU started an auto blog?

I have made some autoblogs a year ago without any success, well, i didn't really pursued SEO because i was focusing on other projects until those blogs died.. and been reading those "autoblogs are dead" so i neglected.
I'm reconsidering autoblogs for some extra $$ so i'm watching your progress now and i hope we'll discover something positive.. then scale up. I'm with you with this and I've subscribed.
I have xrumer license lying unused there on botmaster, haven't been using it for 2years now. Maybe I'll get a box for it and will try to run it again. I'll let you know mate.

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
I usually read all the case studies related to Autoblogging.
This indeed is very helpful.
What I have seen from my all autoblogs that they do not rank at all however I am getting traffic but its very low.
I do use SB on AA lists, and only 3 blogs are de-indexed because of the poor contents.
Autoblogging is good only with the unique and readable contents.
Please update the results.

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
Nice post.
I think Auto blogger is the good way for people who aren't good at English. However, I think if we want to success with Auto blog we should choose source of information carefully to provide useful information to readers.
I will follow your case study.
I think if you can make money from auto blog you can consider to invest an authoriy blog by outsourcing content writing.
Thanks for your sharing
Hope you more success

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
@BabyMonster I am not using this auto blog to create money VIA adsense, amazon, or any affiliate product for that manner. I am actually using this to generate leads for my own squeeze page. I heavily edited the theme to remove outbound links, websites, put up a webform and an image hyperlink all to drive traffic to my squeeze page. Also let me know about the Xrumer.
@umaycool getting indexed in Google may be easy, but remember I am not targeting Google. I am targeting Bing, Yahoo, Twitter and Facebook.
@Kabeer I am not looking to create a high traffic blog. The content is mostly unreadable. I am purely looking to get ANY traffic to generate leads for my squeeze page. This is a test site. Eventually I am going to create a network of highly READABLE blogs in the same industry to do the same thing (generate leads).
@quangtrieuphu I completely agree. However I think that people look at Google as the end all be all and fail to realize that Bing and Yahoo are also search engines. While they might not provide TONS of traffic, the little that they provide are good leads. I already have a well targeted Google campaign to my money site. Which is doing very well.
I am going to be posting NEW stats here in a little bit. I wanted to respond to a few people first.
-
-
Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
And the stats:
Index Pages:
Google - 2213
Bing -0
Yahoo - 2
Backlinks:
Google - 1808
Bing - 0
Yahoo - 3
Traffic
Direct - 12
Bing (Organic) - 4
Twitter (Referral) - 3
Yahoo (Organic) - 2
Other - 1
Conversions
6 People Sent To Squeeze Page (26% CTR)
3 Filled Out Webform (50% Opt In)
EDIT:
As a side note my squeeze page typically gets 65-70% conversion on paid traffic (banner ads) and cold traffic (Google Organic). So a 50% conversion is a little on a low side.
Less than a week already and this is proving to one not only be easy, but two it is already profitable.

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
Has this post inspired anyone to start an autoblog? Just curious more than anything. Currently I am working with a software developer to build a program for me that will interface with TBS and really spit out good content.
What are some features that you would like to see in this? What would you like to NOT see?
As long as this does not prove to be expensive I plan to offer it for free for everyone. I am convinced that Auto Blogs are the way to go!

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
I wouldn't really feel great about it until I was making 50 - 100 dollars a day off an autoblog. I do have a few autoblogs and haven't made any money yet. I've been at it for about a month. Don't worry as soon as I start making money I will let everyone know. Peace.

Re: Case Study - Beating Panda With An Autoblog
@jorfam what are you using to pull content from YouTube? That is the next step. I want to create an auto blog that pulls purely YouTube videos.
@beeHWfan did you read the thread? This isn't about creating money with Adsense or Amazon or any other affiliate program. This is purely lead generation. The blog will NOT create an income. It will only create LEADS and it is doing that so far.
