Starting a Counterfeit website!
I am starting a counterfeit website. Any advice on how I can stop the company that is being counterfeited from stopping, or putting a stop to my URL or Site?

Re: Starting a Counterfeit website!
When you say "counterfeit site", do you mean a site selling counterfeit goods (ie replicas of designer handbags, or watches)... OR a 'close match' domain name like "Faceboook"" or "Googel".
If it's the latter, then beware: Lawsuits are flying like crazy about that kind of thing, and it's only a matter of time before you get 'discovered'.

Re: Starting a Counterfeit website!
If you are thinking of selling counterfeit goods then I see alot of these kind of websites do primarily advertising though emailings. Because if you start to rank in Google or other places, for their product keywords, those counterfeited companies will find you pretty quickly, and take action.
Also I would recommed offshore hosting, because regular hosting can get you removed, or sued quickly by the companies in question.

Besides offshore hosting a non us based domain as well. .net and .com can easily be seized by u.s. authorities. The Pirate Bay uses a .org so that offers alot of protection.

First: I'm not a lawyer.
You can legally use trademarks in comparison. Likewise you can have products that are knockoffs and even say "compare to blahblah" so long as the item itself isn't infringing. The line is pretty fuzzy in where you start to confuse consumers though, as it has to be pretty clear that you are not trying to confuse consumers into thinking you are selling the trademarked product.
Also, .org does not offer any protection at all and the original piratebay domain WAS seized. They registered THEpiratebay.org after that, and they have since recovered their original domain.

Re: Starting a Counterfeit website!
Interesting story about this - many many years ago a friend ran a website that written by hand in html - very basic - he sold UFC videos- to cut a long story short he made over 50k (Pounds) per month - he got a Cease and desist send via fedex - put the crap up him- he took it down - few months on did it again.
No IM experience what so ever - I have not talked to him in years but drives nice car and lives in very nice house...
Another story that jumps to mind - my student friends dad worked at sage account software here in Newcastle - they were investigating a website that sold there products at a fraction on the cost on a fake sage website - to cut a long story short the guys running this iinvestigation ( that cost then 10's of 1000's to execute) tracked to servers down to a cupboard within Sage itself - to add to the humiliation it was found out that it was run by most of the guys doing the investigating, obviously these guys got the push (sack) but there were no criminal charges what so ever, I was later told that these guys made million and live on a yacht off the coast of Jamaca, this slaps every person that works at sage in the face - working 8 - 6 like slaves, while criminals life the high life 24/7.
I have lots of stories like this...

Would a .ru offer protection from seizure from a u.s. court?
