This may sound dumb, but I will ask anyway! What is claoking, why is it needed, and how do you do it! Can you explain the steps. I here a lot of people talking about claoking your affiliate links. Thanks.

There are a lot of posts about it on the forums. Cloaking hides the site sending traffic from being known to the site getting the traffic.

Site A sends traffic to Site B. Cloaking makes Site B think that people instead just came from nothing [best way I can explain it] or that people came to Site B from Site H.

You need it depending on what you are doing.

Cloaking your link refers to hiding the fact that your link is to an affiliate site, because when someone hovers over the link, they can see the URL (address) it is sending them to. A lot of people are wise to sales gimmickry and won't click on them if they see it goes to a sales site. Ying-Yang is right, the link they posted is super advice on the why's and How's!

Just be careful with it though because you will get your ass banned. Cloaking is a hide and seek game with the search engines. Google is pretty clever at flushing out web site using basic cloaking techniques. My advice is that if your determined to get into serious cloaking you need to be prepared to spend some money, and I don't mean buying a $47 program or plug in...

I'm looking for some "serious cloaking" the kind that can cloak and redirect 10k-30k ips and hour. Any hint or links would be appreciated.

how do you cloak links in a pdf file? like if i'm writing an ebook with a link to a cpa offer in it, how do i make the link look like something else when it's hovered over in the pdf?

*i haven't made a pdf file before, so not sure if this can be done?

If you're trying to cloak a link in a pdf file you can still use any of the previously mentioned methods. I prefer to use the .htaccess method, but is easily recognizable. If you are using the PDF to direct your traffic though it shouldn't be a problem. Heck, you could probably even use one of the free URL shorteners for that.

A stupid question - if my links are cloaked how does my merchant know where it has come from for paying my commission ?

Cloaking your link just makes it look more legit to users. The final landing is the link the merchant provided you so they will know it came using your link based on the unique link. I think that's what you are asking.

Cloaking is unethical or black hat SEO practice. It is process where 2 different version of webpage content is available, one for visitors and another for search engines crawlers/robots.

Clocking is refer to make a copy of page in our website which is specially targeted for search engine crawlers and spiders. The main page is for users and copy page is for search engine so it is also a black hat seo technique to increase page rank.
