Ok so here is my prob maybe yall can help.

I am posting on cl and im on vacation away from my pc, all i have is my macbook. problem is how do i change the ip? on my pc i bought a program and all i had to do is click a button and magically my ip was changed. Unfortunately they don't have this program for macs. I searched and searched and searched, only thing I could find that would be somewhat simple is tor.

So i have tor and i am using vidal and foxyprox with it and it took all my might to get these things working, and getting it to change my ip. yeah im a noob anyway, so i have been checking my ip and i realize a lot of these ips im getting are not usa ips. i heard that cl will flag you automatically if you use an non usa ip, is that true? I really don't want to take a chance and dirty one of my cl accounts. Is there a way to configure tor to only use usa ips? Also i hear that cl blocked proxies, blah blah blah but i checked that and a lot of these ips arent blocked. If you guys know of an easier way to change an ip on a mac, let me know. using cable modem with belkin wireless router, so changemac etc doesnt work. and i dont wanna buy that remote dsl thingy i hear about here, way too expensive.

ok so here is an update. craigslist will let you log in with tor and post. you don't even get flagged, well its because all my ads posted by using tor has been ghosted. im assuming this is due to the ip coming from other countried besides usa. arrgggg
i know in the command prompt you can enter commands to chnge your ip in a pc....
well any coders know the commands for the console in for linux using unix in os x leopard? posted in macrum0rs and applfritter nothing from the apple geeks lol. so any bhw coders/geeks know how??

I am at the point now where while im on vacation with only my mac im just going to email what to post to my hubby and have him do it on the pc... but he is computer illiterate so wont take much for him to mess up all my cl accounts by doing something incorrectly..... argggg

Hey I don't have a mac but I am having CL problems also, just bought craygo and got my IP banned. I need to unban my IP so I am going to try "hide my IP" or something like it. I hate CL it is such a pain to use..

Save your money if you are purchasing "hide My IP" just to use it on CL.

I bought it a few months ago for use on CL, and CL picks up on it immediately. If you try to post, you will be directed to get a phone verified account.

You are just going to have to keep changing your IP the long way.

Unless someone here is successful with hide my ip and CL posts....... please share.

If you read the changelog on the newest (unstable) version of tor it says that you can choose regions now. I would tell you how to do it but I am trying to figure it out also.

Though the TOR network is ever growing with new exit nodes everyday, it is easy for CL to simply scrape these from various sites. One example is

You'll be better off using some proxy instead.

just register with a host the supports proxies in the US.

i think this is the best solution. thanks. unless i can figure oout a way to get tor for the mac to do only us ips.

some sections require phone verified accounts. you arent being asked to verify just cuz u are using hide my ip. if you tried with any ip address, even your own in certain sections you have to get phone verified account. no way arround it. but of course there are many ways to get phone verified accounts. buy them, go to payphones, get virtual numbers, etc

I have a very simple solution for all you CL posters. Here is a nifty little proxy program that works using the TOR network.

I have tested it with CL and it will allow you post through the proxy. Also, you can choose what country you wish the proxy's to come from.

I have scanned the file for viruses, so it was clean when I uploaded it. I use this for other things besides CL (ie: forums, ect)

I'm on a mac. When I want a US exit node on tor, I just press the get new identity button until I get one. Never taken very many tries. I check my location here:

Otherwise, just use a free proxy from any list on Google.
