Question https + iframe = blank referrer?

Hi again guys, any help on this one would be awesome.

I am searching for a way (like everyone) to reliably blank referrers using some kind of redirect method. I have heard so many different reports for different browsers using different languages etc. however I feel like I'm going around in circles.

Does anybody know if directing traffic to a https page that contains an iframe (with or without a frame breaker) to your target url will blank the referrer and if so how reliable would it be?

Thanks again bhw, this place is awesome

Ash

Why not test it out? It would only take you a few minutes...

I would absolutely love to... except that I don't have an ssl certificate and they cost into the hundreds per year to buy. Unless there is another way to test it?

Its very easy to blank referrer if its on your website but if you are trying to blank referrer in forums that's a different story.

No this is not for forum use and yes it will be on my website. Do you have any proven suggestions you may be able to assist me with?

Thanks in advance,

Ash

You can find a free ssl cert that's good for 2 weeks i believe. just use the magic search engines. If you have control over the site that you're content is on, you could do a simple double meta-refresh to blank the referer. It doesn't work in safari and some other random browsers...

you can use a double metarefresh under an IFRAME. it will work for Firefox. But will not redirect under the IE. You will have to find a work around for that. Other then that your gonna just have to pass your IE referrer and use some scripts to block AM entrances.. lol

if you do a search in google for privacy check, or similar, many of these sites come up.

has anyone reliably tested an https with prosper202? in prosper, if cloaking is turned on, I believe there are up to 4 redirects to attempt to scrub your referrer. Im wondering if you use two installs of prosper202, would there be way to still track subids, but also send the traffic from a non SSL prosper install to an SSL prosper (https) and totally blank the referrer. Lets figure this out!
