Hi I searched and read through the forum and cannot figure out which way will always hide the referrer. Some people say a double meta refresh works, but not on all browsers, the same with a javascript redirect. Or are sites like spoofurl effective? It would be better if I could fake the referrer and not just blank it.

Is there one simple way to hide a referer that works 99% or all of the time?

Also, do I even need to hide my referrer if I have a landing page? Say I and sending the keyword from adwords thru to my landing page, when someone clicks the affiliate link on my landing page, will the affiliate network see my keyword?

Hi, there are ways to hide the referer OR set the referer as being a specific page.

When a person clicks on a link on one page to go to another page the referer will be the page where the person clicked. So in answer to

Referer leak happens when you force a user through from one site to another site automatically without forcing the person to click on a link. e.g. Meta refresh, Javascript document.location / server-side redirects etc will all leak the referer.

If you are sending people to your landing page and then they have to click through to get to your affiliate offer, then you don't have to cloak. Unless your landing page offers some kind of incentive or something else that goes against the TOS of the affiliate. If not, don't worry about it.

As for cloaking, I found the best thing is a flash script. Harder to come by those now though.

Im looking for that too, but I think you guys didnt get the main point (or I didnt hehe).
He wants to hide his referer bcoz it kind scares people... I mean, when they click in your affiliate link and land in the next page they notice a username in the url.... it sux ... Im pretty sure that alone raise a few eyeballs. Even more when people think you were just trying to help them (by reviewing a product, or writing an article you know the drill hehe) and instead you were 'just tricking people' to click in your link (which is kinda true ;p ).

You could potentially link to a page with a 100% height and width iframe and use your affiliate link as the source. That way, you'd have control over the URL in the address bar. That said, I think that you might be over-estimating how many people actually look in the address bar, but who knows.

Yeah, with iframe we can have control over the url in the address bar, but unfortunately most cpa networks prohibit affiliates from iframing their offers.
