Seriously... how hard can it be? you make a website that promotes a CB product and hope it converts.

LOL
Well if you think the best plan is to "hope it converts", then it'll certainly be easy.
Of course the chance of success with just 'hoping' would be virtually zero.
If you just want to throw up a website and hope it converts then you should just stick with PPC programs like Adsense where all you need is an occassional visitor to click an ad for you to be paid a few cents.
If you want to actually sell something though, then it can still be fairly simple but that doesn't mean it's necessarily easy.
First you need to remember that Clickbank is just the payment processor. The product itself is what you'll be promoting, so you need to find a good one that people will actually be willing to buy.
Second you need to build a website targeted at people looking for the type of product you've decided to promote. Then you need to write content that will actually make them think the particular product your promoting will solve their need or desire. They should already be partially sold before they even click the link taking them to the sales page.
Lastly, you need to run a traffic generation campaign targetting the type of people looking for the product your promoting. Depending on what product you decided to promote that could be easy or if there's already a lot of other people promoting the same product then it could be very hard. Not only do you need to find prospects that will want what your promoting, you need to get them to visit your site and buy through your link instead of someone elses.
It doesn't matter whether you're advertising on other websites, running PPC campaigns, or just doing a good job on SEO for the right keywords. Whatever your doing, it needs to get the right type of visitors to your website or you'll never make a single sale.
So...
"How hard can it be?"
That depends on how well you understand sales and marketing. For some people it can be fairly easy, for others it can be a struggle. But either way there's more work involved than just "hoping it converts".

@GreyWolf
I completely agree with you. But with the traffic campaign, how would we drive traffic to our website? Do we just build backlinks to reach the first search on Google? Is that our main traffic? Or is there another way..
Thanks a ton. +rep

Well that's part of it, although if SEO is your strategy there's also some other things you need to do as well; keyword research to make sure you're using the best anchors for those backlinks, creating pages on your site optimized for those same keywords, creating additional content to post on web2.0 sites to create even more relevant backlinks, etc.
SEO if done right can be the best long term strategy with a diminishing workload while at the same time getting increasing results, but there are many other ways to bring traffic as well. Craigslist, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, forums, etc. can all be used to drive traffic to your offers. They usually require continuous effort but if done right can bring in a ton of targeted prospects.

Alright, so now what method do you suggest I take for backlinks?
Do I buy them, and what kind of backlinks should I buy?
I know I'm basically asking to be spoonfed but I need the information.

Depends on your competition. If the competition is low then just using a cheap bookmarking service could be enough. If the competition is a bit stronger then you probably want to look at things like linkpush services, scrapebox blasts, etc.
Pretty much any backlinks will be good if you get enough of them. If you want to buy backlinks just check out the BST forum and read the reviews in the various threads. If you want to build them yourself, then just look through the threads in the SEO forum to learn about the different types of backlinks and how to get them.

Alright, thanks. I'll just continue to buy $5 backlinks until I reach #1 search on Google. (Drip them day by day of course).
I'm assuming I should buy some articles too, because I know nothing about my niche lol.
