I'm wondering if I buy advertising space on a website related to a highly converting clickbank product, is that a bad idea? To me it sounds like a good idea, but ask as there might be something I've overlooked

Well you've done research, the website is related, maybe check the age and demographics are related to what your selling, then the only thing you can do is buy advertising space for testing and at least hope it converts well enough to recover your initial investment.
