I want to just set up adword campaigns with clickbank products... Will i get banned? can anyone give me some thoughts on this?

You need to build a website around the product with several pages, and promote the product on it only then can you advertise with adwords in a "safe" way. If you only build a landing page for the product you might be declined to use adwords.

Your going to need a damn good landing page.

I got banned lol, but started another account and tried my luck with another one that doesn't look like your typical landing/pitch page and it got accepted

Not sure if this helped, but with this new CB product I used the wordpress plugin Pretty Link to hide the affiliate hop link.

Direct linking is generally not approved but they do let some thin affiliate landing sites slide through. It depends on the reviewer.

What I hate with Adwords is when you have several good campaigns running, then you try to add another campaign. And not only do they disapprove the new campaign for (sometimes) unknown reasons, but they go back and disapprove all of the other active campaigns. Very frustrating!
